Re: “Hi. I’m Larry. This is My Brother Darryl, and This is My Other Brother Darryl.”

I liked Bob Newhart but the bit with the three brothers was cringeworthy.  It was a definite channel-changer for me.

What a great show!

Newhart was a comedic genius, such dry, deadpan humor but so wry and wonderful.

I always liked Peter Scolari. I thought it was he who would be the break out star after Bosom Buddies, but it turned out to be Tom Hanks...

Another brother lover here! I really enjoyed the Newhart shows. I'm going to look for them to stream.

Fans of Newhart will probably recognize these words!

I loved this show when it was on, and I recently watched the second episode online after reading an article about it.

I was surprised to learn almost everyone in the main cast has passed away. Julia Duffy (Stephanie)  is still living, as are William Sanderson (Larry), Tony Papenfuss (Darryl #1), and John Voldstad (Darryl #2).

Last December Larry and the Darryls reunited for an interview. They talked about how they were cast, their relationship with each other, and their relationship with Bob Newhart. They also discussed their favorite episodes and the show's ending.

I learned a lot about them. If you want to read the interview it's on cracked.com.

Now I want to watch all of the episodes!  Smiley LOL

@beach-mom

See if you can watch Attention WPIV Shoppers episode Season 6 Ep 18.  Absolutely hilarious as ****** and Stephanie are home shopping channel hosts.

Another favorite is Take Me to Your Loudon Season 6 Ep 7.  Has to do with Halloween and aliens.  Jim and Chester are very funny as the rest of the cast.

Bob Newhart didn't like the way the show was going in the first 2 seasons and you'll see remarkable changes starting in Season 3.

If you start watching all the episodes check back in would love to hear what you think!  Don't be discouraged if you find it not great in the first 2 seasons as mentioned it changes and for the better season 3.

The guy who originally owned the  cafe:  Kirk.  He was kinda an unlikable character in the early seasons.

Steve Kampmann, the actor who portrayed "Kirk Devane", was Emmy-nominated for his writing for "WKRP in Cincinnati".

Since Tom Poston was married to Suzanne Pleshette and a close friend of Bob Newhart, he may have had an advantage when it came to casting "George Utley".

I always thought the stand-out acting talent in the show was Julia Duffy and Peter Scolari.

Re: “Hi. I’m Larry. This is My Brother Darryl, and This is My Other Brother Darryl.”

I loved all of the show and all of the characters. They just don't make them like they used to. I used to have my nights all mapped for all the shows I had to watch. At times I had two on the same night so then I kicked in the vcr to tape the one I wasn't watching. Now...dry as the dessert. I can't think of one show that is on any night now that would matter to me if I missed it.

Reading these comments I want to watch even more! I missed a lot of the episodes you're talking about, but I will watch them!

I was surprised about Peter Scolari too. I was more surprised to learn William Sanderson had such an extensive film and TV resume. I learned Julia Duffy auditioned for the role of Diane in Cheers. I thought she was great on this show!  Smiley Happy
