Wonderful actress. I didn't realize she was still alive until I read in today's newspaper it is her birthday.

She was married to equally good actor and also director John Cassavettes for 35 yrs until his death. Son Nick Cassavettes is also a director.

I remember first seeing her in 87th Pct.  She played the wife of a Detective an unable to speak or hear.  She was so beautiful, loved her ever since.

@Somertime  I always watched that show -- loved it and I'm so glad you mentioned it. I think her character's name was Teddi.  That show was soooo good!

@Pearlee Yes, it was.  I, always, think it's Naked City at first an then I remember it's 87 Pct.

Gena Rowlands played a spooky role in the movie, The Skeleton Key, with Kate Hudson. I like it a lot and have watched it several times. Another one I really like was her role in the the movie, Hope Floats, with Harry Connick, Jr.

And the episode of Monk she was in. She was a substitute mother figure for him as his neighbor until he suspected her of murder.
