Years ago I read an interesting article written by a human anthropologist.   She was comparing history to present day.

One thing that stood out was that babies that resemble their father have a MUCH higher survival rate.   

The interesting reason for that is that it's more difficult for a male to abandon a family if he sees himself in the children's faces!
