@depglass The actress who played Linda left the show to pursue other interests.When the series opened this season she was already dead.They said she died in a helicopter crash transporting a patient to the hospital. If you recall Linda was a nurse.

   This was a surprise to the viewers. It was a well kept secret.Nothing was said at the close of last season.And when this season opened like I said she was already dead.

Her death was not shown, she "was killed" in the off season, the new season starts abut 6 months after her death. Danny is having a difficult time dealing with life, his kids and the issues around him

Thank you so much.  Danny was talking to the boys so matter-of-factly about their mother being gone I was hoping perhaps she was just on some trip.  Then they did the dining room scene and I knew it was much worse.  I can't imagine what was so serious to keep me away from the TV on Friday night.  Maybe we had one of our storms when DirecTV goes down.

The date of the pilot can not be September 29.2017, that was this year

The actress who played Linda did not leave of her own accord.  Her contract was not renewed due to the writers wanting to "go a different direction".  So many fans have complained they may do a flashback show so fans can view a funeral or something like that so they can say goodbye.

I wish they would consider Donnie Wahlbergs real life wife who is an actress as his new love interest. I never cared for the Linda character and don't miss her, the character was a pain in the keister. IMO

I like Donnie Wahlberg's real-life wife, Jennie McCarthy. I think Jenny is usually seen as a comedic actress. Not sure she would be the right fit for "Blue Bloods".

watching Blue Bloods this afternoon, I don't really care the character either, but however as much as I find Jenny amusing sometimes she wouldn't fit in, in this show.

Personally I think it was a good idea to write the character out,
