LOL - only one response must say what everyone thought of the finale!
I appreciate that these are one season stories, but I feel like the endings are always rushed. This season especially really didn't seem to have a focus and drifted all over the place. Yes, I get it - the real freaks are the people who appear normal.
This was especially unusual. I assume spoilers are okay going forward - everyone died pretty much at the beginning of the show (or, as the recap I read said - everyone but the big name stars). I'm okay that Jimmy/Bette & Dot had a happy ending and that Desiree ended up a mother and married to Malcolm Jamal Warner. But, what I forgot, and was likely why Ryan Murphy spent the last 1/2 of the show on Elsa, was that this was Jessica Lange's last season. It was his good bye and happy ending for her.
It will be interesting to see what he does next year as he has more (and what seems like similar) shows coming out. I think on HBO and Fox?? Ryan Murphy doesn't do multi-tasking very well.
I did have a random thought - did all of the season's have "happy" endings? Murder House everyone was dead but together in the afterlife. "Asylum" - how did it end for everyone? I know the reporter wrote a book and murdered the killer, but I think Evan Peter's character and Jessica Lange's had a reconciliation? "Coven" - Sarah Paulsen is the new supreme and Jessica Lange is dead - but in an afterlife with the one she loves (didn't sound so bad to me!) and now "Freak Show", with another happy ending for all. Seems like the "American...Story" is surrounded by "Horror", but everyone ends up okay in the end.
