I wish QVC would sell computers with an option to not have Window 8...I much prefer Windows 7. Is that possible

Forget about windows 7 .. technology will never go backwards always forward. I just upgraded to window 8.1 Everyone who has windows 8 will have to upgrade by next year otherwise you will be having to catch up with the new updates that take forever to download. Sorry, it is what it is.

All I know is what I heard my tech office telling another customer that had to upgrade because they had a system Microsoft no longer supports. She told him to look for a used computer that had 7 and to stay away from 8. These older people with ancient computers tend to be very computer unsavvy, so she may have meant that advice just for that group. Don't take that remark to mean you, I'm just reporting on the people where I live.

Yes, folks around here were having problems with 8. (Even the sales techies in electronic stores). It was discussed in our local newspaper. When I run into that article, I'll give you the info. Well, this was last year, so maybe the Windows people read similar articles and have solved those problems by now.

No offense, as there are a lot of us who aren't tech savvy, and just use our computers for information, various community chats (here), etc. 'Just for fun' type of use.

You can get a new Windows 7 computer from Amazon (several brands available, incuding Toshiba and HP). A friend of mine just bought one last month. No need to look for a used or refurbished computer.

Could not resist a comment here, even though this post started weeks ago. After trying to get acquainted with Windows 8 and 8.1, I gave up and got an Apple Computer. Heard nothing but negatives about Windows 8 and could not find a training class anywhere.
In doing research, found an article that states Microsoft will not support Windows 7 as some time in 2015. Please take this into consideration when making your choice. This is the reason I switched to Mac. I am still a bit confused on some things, but really love the Mac.

(bolded by me) That seems odd because they are supporting Windows VISTA until 2017. I cannot imagine why they would drop support for Windows 7 so soon.

Its not Windows 7 there dropping in 2015 it's Windows XP.
