Re: Why hide the country of origin?

seeBreeze, I thought I noticed the same thing.  It seems to me just to not discouraged sales.  It was so obvious and was surprised at Pat.  All she had to do is not show the bottom.  The obvious deception would be enough for me not to buy.  Some are over thinking this.  Makes me think, QVC thinks we can be fooled.

I think that most posters here are wise enough, experienced enough as shoppers,  savvy enough and intelligent enough to know where most of the "imported" products are manufactured.

As was wisely noted, if the item was from Ireland, Portugal,  Italy or France (as examples), it would be prominently displayed and loudly employed as a sales point!

The things I've read here about items manufactured in Vietnam and China!!

Re: Why hide the country of origin?

Other hosts simply turn the product upside down and NOT PURPOSELY COVER UP the country.

I have a few pieces made from 4 different Asian countries and I knew that when I purchased. But this was so blatant on live TV...she had to be told by higher ups to purposely do this...she looked at bottom before turning items over to show the camera...then positioned her fingers every time...that's deception. I expected better from QVC-!

Re: Why hide the country of origin?

@seaBreeze

Could you give us an example of an item where Pat D. was 'purposely' hiding the country of origin from the viewers?

I could only find an 11 am show on Q2.....but Pat D. wasn't in any of the videos.

Just Albderio and JRT.

If it doesn't say "Made in America" then what does it really matter?  It's Imported.....Is there a real difference if it is made in Vietnam or Indonesia?

Fooled?  See post #10.

If a manufacturer has factories in a few countries, the most accurate information you can get may be "imported".

BTW, not everything made in the U.S. is top quality.

Re: Why hide the country of origin?

@RespectLife -  Usually takes the Q a day or two to change the video (or add a new one to .com).   Show aired 11a.m.-1pm EST today on Q2.

I do not care where it is made...some do.  I have lots of MC, none of which is made in USA and knew when I purchased.

The issue is that Pat purposely covered it up (not all viewers are familiar with MC products and might be curious of the COO).  I like Pat as a host, she's one of my favorites ... just found it fascinating that she went to great lengths to use her finger to hide this simple fact.  The first three are some she did this to:

H490627  Tree Serving Dish (all listed are new "cherry check" pattern)

H490628  Serving bowl

H490626  4 mugs

H490629  Lg. Platter (had pc. of white tape over the ‘country’, so she did not

need to use her finger).  Please make sure you watch

the videos when they're up and running!

Been watching Pat D. with MacKenzie-Childs rep. R. Proctor. For almost 2-hrs. witnessed Pat purposely hide (with her finger) the bottom labels which indicate the COO. It might save some of us from returning...this is considered a deceptive practice! Why hide it...on .com it states "imported."

Please be 'up front' with your devoted customers.

I was watching for a short time. I mentioned to hubby that it says made in China. The. Pat held up another dish and saw her place her finger over the words Made in China. I assumed these were msde in the UK. Guess not. Ridiculous prices.

Re: Why hide the country of origin?

On the subject of deception, I was watching one of the all day gem shows. I think they were showing tanzanite rings. They kept flashing a card up on the screen kind of like a romance card. I finally focused on the bottom of the card and it stated the stone was heat treated. I am sure they did it to legally inform the customers w/o actually saying the stone was heat treated. I thought at the time it was a sneeky dishonest thing to do.

@matty liz Pat does what her bosses tell her to do.  Her bosses know a lot of us don't buy from China and if they are hiding it I would be willing to bet it says CHINA.

Re: Why hide the country of origin?

That is  where Reviews and often questions asked about products  is helpful. Customers that have purchased or researched "Imported" can assist us in " Country of Origin" questions. I know I have checked.
