Please tell Sandra Bennett to stop looking off camera to the bottom left corner. What is there? A mirror? The sales? It is so distracting.

Re: Where is Sandra looking?

There are more than one tv sets on the floor.  One shows what is currently being presented, another to indicate the sales volume, and the other to set up the next camera shot.

My guess would be that she is looking at a monitor, watching herself. I started watching QVC last October when Lisa Robertson was pretty prominent her last few months on air. She frequently looked off to the side and then would adjust how she was standing, which foot was in front of the other, like a model. She would stand up a little taller after looking off stage.

One of the people who does that frequently is an elderly gray-haired lady who demonstrates cosmetics and most recently WEN. She is constantly looking off to the side with her eyes shifting. It is very distracting and I usually leave the room until she is no longer being shown. I assume she is checking to see if she is on camera and probably thinks she should be smiling if she is. I can't think of any other reason for her to have her eyes dart back and forth so much, and after she has looked to the side and comes back to looking in the camera, she is smiling bigger.

I don't notice it with most hosts, but every once in a while I notice it too.

Elderly lady, or do you mean a mature model?

Everyone always complains that certain hosts look at themselves in the monitor.  They are not looking at themselves.  They are looking at sales volume.  A host has a producer i her ear, has to also look at sales monitor and still be smooth to the TV viewing public.

OMG.  If you honestly find her eyes distracting, then don't look at them.

Re: Where is Sandra looking?

Easy solution for me. I NEVER watch any show Sandra Bennett hosts. She's always full of jitters and talks a mile a minute. Sandra never is paying attention to what anyone around her is saying because she's too busy trying to spit out her next thought that just happens to pop into her head.

Sandra comes on, my TV will ALWAYS go off! No matter what show it is. It's a great feeling to be able to click her off.

Re: Where is Sandra looking?

How is it modern viewers still don't understand that the monitors show what is on air a couple of seconds prior to what we at home see on screen?

That time gives the hosts the opportunity to adjust what we see on our home screens.  Maybe a host needs to change the angle of their hands, or of the product, or (as Lisa Robertson used to do a lot) actually hold the hand of a vendor still so the product would stay in view of the camera lens.

I doubt they are looking at "sales volume."  How would that benefit them while doing their job of presenting a product on air?

I don't know where she is looking but I say she does a very professional job out of everyone.  She really is a lovely lady.

Yes, that's correct  .... thank you !!

Several things are happening when a presentation is being made ... and the producers, camera people and sales updates are constantly changing.  How a host can take a break to admire themselves in a monitor (which are up high, not on the floor)  to see how they look.   good grief.
