i prefer them NOT to ring the bell unless a signature is needed.
our ups driver leaves our packages in the garage if the door is up or at the front door if it is closed.

Our UPS man always rings the bell and I wish he would not primarily because I keep track of when a package is due. So I know to look for it on a certain day. Also UPS comes through our neighborhood at 2 and 6 p.m. So it is all very predictable.

Not everyone wants their doorbell rung. Sleeping babies, people who work nights, sick people or people that have pets that get riled up, etc... Put a note by the door requesting them to ring the doorbell-they'll probably be happy to comply.

@CalminHeart wrote:Go into ups.com and register. There is a section there where you tell UPS where to deliver your packages. You can also add email settings so you know when a package will be delivered -- date and a 4 hour time frame.
Another benefit of registering with UPS -- you will also get an email shortly after delivery confirming the package was delivered, where it was left, and at what time.

I have found that it all depends on the driver. I do have text notifications set up with UPS, USPS, FedEx and Amazon. Whenever a delivery is made, I get an almost instant text notifying me. I work at home often, but I'm not often near the door where I might hear. I don't mind that they don't ring / knock because that gets the dogs "stirred up". I always know when I have a package coming that day because of tracking and text notifications.

Sometimes I really wish they would ring the doorbell on my house, too. But I can see how they are kind of damned if they do and damned if they don't.
I also agree that it depends on the driver. Sometimes I get a bell-ring and most of the time I don't.
One thing you CAN do is print up a sign with large font that says something like 'UPS, Please ring bell. Thank You.' That's what I would do. Generally, I know when I'm expecting something so I kkeep an eye out. Also, I have an account with UPS so I get emails including an email within a couple of minutes of a delivery. I really like that. ![]()

@WORKING GAL THey did that to me too. When I place an order that is coming UPS , I go into where you sign up for notifications on delivery, there is a section in there for comments. If you put in there please knock or ring the bell when delivered they will. I think they are always in a hurry and that is why they don't bother. I agree with you about them just leaving it on the porch. I try to be home when I know a delivery is coming,

In the case of delivering perishable food that is shipped with dry ice, the answer is definitely yes. Once a driver left a large styrofoam box containing meat on the front stoop, without ringing the bell. I get my deliveries in the evening, so he should have assumed l was home. Luckily l heard the truck, or that meat would have been rancid if it sat out there all night (it was the summer)!

I always get a email saying "Your pkg has been delivered" from UPS

Maybe OP should be posting this on the UPS website. I'm not quite sure what QVC can do about making her UPS guy ring her doorbell!
