For the most part I like the new forum (I liked the old one better) but I have two issues:

  • When I read the posts I go into view all categories.  If I respond to someone's post then the computer just clears the screen and just sits there.  I have to go back into view all categories again and try to figure out where I left off.
  • When there is trail of responses why do the oldest ones keep fading away?  I find that very annoying.  What's the point?

Oh, and one more thing.  Can you get us better smiley faces?  The ones we have currently are scary looking.  Who's brillant idea was that to pick them? Woman Very Happy

I agree ! This new board is like a shot in the dark, its not set up for banter. It should not be called beauty banter, they took the banter out. It should be called ..."say something, and it better be nice "

I agree, for the most part I like the Forum (used to the changes now), but the blank screen after a reply is very odd.  However, if you look to the left at the category listings, the one bolded is where you were.  Of course, we still have to hunt & peck if the posting itself is way deep into the list of postings.

I'd like to add -- when we reply to a specific posting we don't see that posting as we write.  Sometimes there are several different points I like to respond to, but forget some of them by the time I start typing.  Maybe that's just me and my bad memory skills.

One tip I learned from another poster (because I hadn't noticed it) is that just below the reply box when you get ready to type in your response, look just below to the left and you will see "View discussion in a popup".  If you click on that, it will open the entire discussion in a new window and you can go back and forth to refer to it as you type your response.  I've learned a lot from other posters during this "transition", and this helped me immensely.  Hope it helps you, too.

I don't like the way quoted posts are greyed out.  If there are more than two, the original is as if it were written in ivisible ink, impossible to read.

Instead of quoting, I think I'll just copy and paste the post for reference instead.  We are missing a huge amount of "back and forth" discussions now.

I agree, author!  This really makes discussions easier.  Why can't the moderators facilitate our conversations instead of us having to do it?  It sure takes all the fun and interest out of having a conversation on these boards!!

I believe that was intentional by design (i.e., restricting back and forth conversation). Smiley

Re: Two Issues with New Forum

I cannot quote someone using my tablet. That category does not exist when I click on the three grey dots. Inconvenient.
