I am appalled at how you allowed the character assassination of one of your hosts go on and on this past week.  This cannot be good for anyone.  We all know that there are quite a few here just waiting for an excuse to make a host they dislike a target for character assassination.  I am tired of it.  If it hadn't been this host...... it would have been another host.  Until you, the moderators, can tell the difference between a genuine complaint or an outright "verbal attack" on another person..... or have a place where people can complain that doesn't humiliate the host....I think it wise not to even mention a host's name here.  You guys and gals didn't stop it.....so the host was forced to.  How sad when it gets to that point.  She was right to defend herself and I say "bully for her"!  I may have a favorite host and not know this host very well...but this host  works hard and has come a long way.  She didn't deserve what she got.

ITA , OP. The mods should have stopped it, since the posters seem to be toom immature to stop themselves.

I report these type of posts myself as 'inappropriate'.  This kind of activity is just not at all necessary.

My Dad always taught us that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything".  Thank you Dad for your words of wisdom.

I have tried to understand why this woman's words, posts, blogs bring out the worse side of both supporters and non supporters.  Non supporters take issue with everything she says and does and supporters resort to the worse name calling imaginable.

It invariably gets ugly.

Hosts, supporters and non supporters all need to weigh their words and moderators need to be diligent in shutting down anything that hints of dissension before it ever gets going.

@PINKdogWOODGood move.   I wasn't here for whatever ugliness went on, but reporting something really egregious just makes sense to me.

I can't imagine being a moderator -  being expected to read each post faster than lightening and deciding to pull the unwanted.  Giving them a heads-up is good community relations; they can always choose what they feel is the appropriate action.

For the record, I dont' condone attacking anyone - hosts, vendors or other forum participants.  That said, I read Shawn's FB posting and she specifically talked about instagram, not this forum.  Instagram apparently became a war-zone between some animal rights folks and some Shawn fans/protectors - both sides contribute to those wars.  We've seen that behavior here as well.  The moderators here did remove those posts that went over the top here as well as the posts that got personal from one poster to another.  They have since of course locked the thread.

I don't see how Shawn's posting on FB solves anything, honestly.  I understand she was hurt, but she needs to step back and think about what many people posted regarding the topic in a reasonable manner.  What many folks tried to convey was that it isn't something to joke about because torture and killing of black cats around Halloween is an ugly problem.  It would have gone a long way, IMHO, if Shawn at least acknowledged that, admitting she was unaware it was such an awful thing and apologize!  We all make mistakes, don't compound it by not learning from them.

Oh, it was Shawn and the black cat thread, I was wondering.  Thank you @Buck-i-Nana.

I didn't read everything that was written but it seemed to be much ado about nothing.  So, she's superstitious - a lot of people are, especially around Halloween.  I don't believe she said she wanted to harm the poor animal.

She didn't say she wanted to harm it, no, and I viewed it as just more of the silliness that QVC seems to insist on these days.  The problem though is, in this case, that silliness and joking about "oh a black cat, I'm doomed" makes light of a significant problem that many people who are involved in animal rescue  see all too often around Halloween - that being the torture and mutilation of black cats out of superstition or sick fun....it's really not something to joke about.  JMHO.

ETA - this is such an issue that in my area, the cat rescues and animal shelters do not adopt out any black cats during Oct.  People were actually purchasing them to torture and kill them.  We need to stop perpetuating the black cats are evil or a jinx stories.

I too  feel that it was mainly a pile-on against a host that some people seem to really dislike.

It looked like she had taken a photo of a small, young cat, not a tiny kitten, through a side-light on a front door.

Lots of people are afraid of certain animals, have had bad experiences with animals, etc..I love cats and dogs and birds, but not everyone is prepared to contact a strange animal.

The telling point to me was the amount of rage focused at the host, and very little being said about whoever dumped the cat, if it even was dumped and not simply wandering its territory.

Educating people about animal abuse is one thing, treating a person as an animal abuser is another.
