Just a guess but listening to the callers it sounds like many of the QVC buyers are in their 50's and on up. Many of them are retired. They don't have a need for clothes one would wear to a professional office (i.e. suits, etc).
My friend retired 3 years ago. She always wore suits to work. Now she says she has all of these suits she hasn't had on since.
I told her she should donate them to organizations that help women but she's not ready to give them up yet. Go figure.

The more classic, conservative style is not where it's at, and hasn't been for quite a while. The athleisure look is still hot, and a more causal, releaxed style is in. More workplaces are going casual so the need for more tailored clothing isn't as high. QVC is in it to get those dollars, and right now they'll make more money by selling what's in demand. But there are plenty of online vendors that are selling camp shirts, cardigans that button up, pleated slacks, etc. And if the classic look returns again, QVC will be right there selling it.

@bootsanne wrote:I also would love to see real trousers offered, you know the kind with a button and fly and didn't look sausage casing. Also pants and slacks that are not tapered and so skinny your eyes immediately go to your hips. I'm not talking about those ugly pant-suit type pants with elastic waists, but dressy trousers in nice material. In a variety of lengths. You'd think that QVC's top designer has such an extensive past as a pants maker, she could come up with some new styles. I'd also like to see a better variety of tops. Really can nobody come up with anything other than an open-front cascading "cardigan"? Or a cold-shoulder, peplum, shark-bite, high-low tee shirt that even makes the xxs models look bad? If people are willing to spend $70 to $90 on polyester , I'm sure there's a market for a premium line of nicer materials and styles.
What you want is the style of clothing that Talbots carry. They have really "pretty" items that are more tailored, especially the trousers. ![]()

I think females have finally learned AND MORE SPECIFICALLY EARNED the right to be comfortable but presentable what males have done for many, many years.
Some people (especially women) go around in tight, tight 'leggins'. I sometimes think the best thing most people (not just females) should invest in is a full length mirror.
I know there have been times when (while leaving the house) I caught a view of myself, didn't like what I saw, and turned around and changed.
It seems like everyone wants to loose weight these days. It just my opinion, but I can't help but wonder if some people who worry about how they look (pertaining to weight) might want to invest in that mirror and just buy clothes that don't make them look like a stuffed sausage.
But then, this is only my opinion...when I think of tights and tops that fit at the waist I can't help but think of how often I see something that resembles camels.

Agree, if it makes money, they will be selling it!
But for some of us tailored is what looks good on our body/shape. Trends come & go and leave one with "dated" items. The style is tailored and classic, not conservative. Just as style can be sporty or formal, depending on the event such as a wedding. Talbots and Land's End sell the items you mentioned. I love the look. BTW, Does any one remember The Villager clothing line? And Pappagallo shoes?

@Annabellethecat66, you have a valid and most important point, imho. Last time I was at the hairdresser this 'diva' girl in there was admiring herself at the empty station next to me. She wore tights and her tunic wasn't quite long enough! Although I am nowhere near her size, I have since donated all my leggings. Not taking any chances.![]()
