Teach your hosts PLEASE!!!

[ Edited ]

The hosts on jewelry hours are becoming SOOOO horrid with pronunciation of the word "jewelry"!!!!

The word is jew-el-ry

It is NOT jew-LER-y

A "jeweler" is a PERSON who who works with "jewels"

Jewelry are items to be worn... JewELry

Teach your people to SOUND PROFESSIONAL, not uneducated!!!

The hosts use the local slang pronunciation,  I noticed a few others. Lori Grenier is famous for this.  Should QVC correct a vendor?

Do you say cara-mel or car-mel, R or hour when you mean our?  Example: That is R house

It doesn’t bother me at all. The English language is always evolving.

Re: Teach your hosts PLEASE!!!

There are different ways of speaking in all the different areas of our country.....my problem is when Valerie and some others say "look AT HOW"  That is not correct grammer, she should just say "look how" and eliminate the AT.  But, everyone speaks differently and there is nothing we can do.

If everyone in the region pronounces it the same, then are they wrong or are you wrong?

Regional dialects.  Does not  bother me at all.  Used to be there was some sort of training to have people  on air use a mid western dialect.

I also cringe when I hear "jew-ler-y."   The correct pronunciation follows the spelling.  Do they know how to spell?

Re: Teach your hosts PLEASE!!!

That makes me cringe too.  It's not ju-la-ree.  It seems like some of the guests started saying it and maybe the hosts thought it was rude to say it the right way back at them, so they joined right in with the ju-la-ree references.
