Sometimes QVC sells junk products - IO America

Product sold on QVC made by IQ America is nothing but junk.  Paid $30. for a outdoor light with sensor that is 17 months old.  It was supposedly built exclusively to be OUTDOORS.  The light doesn't work any more as the plasctics it is made from deteriorated in the sun, which also happens to be OUTDOORS.  The "white" plastics have turned YELLOW, and the plastic sensor cracked in the part facing the sun.

Called QVC who said "call IQ America."  Called IQ America who said check the batteries, but if it still doesn't work then too bad!!

Seriously, while this may NOT be the typical support given by QVC or its product vendors, it really sucks to see the way this complaint of a long-time QVC customer has been handled.

Re: Sometimes QVC sells junk products - IO America

So many of these things, especially those "As Seen on TV" items, aren't worth the money.

Interesting that the company name is IQ America (which makes you think perhaps made here?) but they're imported (and we know from where).

I notice there's no mention of a warranty either.  I'm afraid you're out of luck with this purchase, but at least you didn't spend too much on what you rightly call "junk".  And I doubt you'll ever purchase from that company again!

I remember a few Christmases ago that I and my little sister send Q gift items to the niece and nephew.  Well, their mom  asked us to NOT SEND ANYTHING FROM QVC to the children because it's all junk.

Since then we have not bought or sent gifts to the children from QVC.

@Bulldogg, I bought this last year and after a few weeks it just quit working.  I tried everything to get it to work again but no luck.  Never again!

I buy very little from QVC now because of the return policy; made the huge mistake of buying a laptop for my college-bound daughter several years ago...it stopped working after three months and the so-called customer support was non-existent. I would never purchase electronics here or anything else with moving parts. I feel safer buying bath gels or certain pieces of clothing from brands I know...that's about it. No more   diamonique either since it isn't what it used to be.

@lovesrecessLots of companies end up selling items that fail.  I know lots of peole think Apple products never do, but the Mac I bought some years ago stopped working within 3 years and all Apple offered was that I needed to upgrade which for me meant buying a new machine!

I did buy a laptop from QVC once -  that lasted twice as long as my Apple device.  That was good since the average of a laptop is about 4 years. When I replaced it, I bought the same brand (Dell), this time from Costco.  I'm in year 6 of its life and I know it's nearing replacement time.  My favorite tech repairman recommended Dell over any other PC brand.  Considering how I use my computer, I'm not going to spend for Apple.

I'm happy I didn't  when I bought this machine.  The Apple rep helping me at the time encouraged me to buy up with Apple.  "You won't need another computer for 5 or 6 years" was one sales line.  Ha!  I spent less than a third of their price for this machine and I'm already in year 6 with all that extra money still in the bank!

When someone finds the perfect retailer -  one that never cuts corners, never makes mistakes, never sells any deficient products, I want to know.  I've been shopping with my own money for about 60 years now and have yet to find nirvana!
