I was up early this morning, doing some channel surfing. I came across a show on Q2, Home Clearance. I dont' know the host, I rarely am wathcing overnights. She was selling a set of 10 microfiber towels from  Don Aslett.  I thought she was doing an ok job UNTIL - she starting getting all excited about how low the cost of each towel was. Again it was a set of 10 for $16.98. She couldn't do it! She could not divide $16.98 by 10 to get the cost of each towel. She did state that her math "wasn't so good". I guess that i I don't know what your expectations are for your hosts but if they can't even do the simple division like this there is something wrong. I found this quire embassasing assuming she has a college degree of some sort. Needless to say I picked the remote back up and kept on surfing.

I have always had trouble with Math. Other subjects were fine, but not math. Guess I am a stupid idiot like the host. Lots of people have subjects that are just harder than others.

What difference could that possibly make in one's decision to buy those towels.  It doesn't matter if the host can do the mental math or not; what matters is that the customer can do it.

Re: Simple Math

You can be a math dullard and figure that one.  All you have to do is move the decmil point.  Even I, who am math challenged, can instantly figure they're $1.70 each.

My brain fails me at the oddest times over the most mundane things.

I'd be a blithering idiot in front of a TV camera.

If she's not a math whiz, why bother even trying?

And where is the producer in her ear?  How bout a little help!

Too busy figuring out colors, I guess.

That was Kristine Zell. It's around the 8:30 mark in the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoY2wPRiNrA. We may never get to hear her say "just a dollar a day."

Good grief, people must be running out of things to complain about.  First shoes in a plain white box and now because a host had brain gas for a few minutes.
