I'm putting this in the Suggestion Box in hopes that someone will see it and I'm sure the issue has been discuseed before, but I don't know why there is a $3.50 and up shipping charge on every single item. If I order 4 items in an order, that's $14.00 in shipping charges alone. (Of course, that depends on what is being shipped; for example, shoes are usual $5.50 to ship.)
Could QVC do like other online retailers and either charge a flat fee for all items, or better yet, once you reach a certain amount, say $50, there are no shipping charges. I know you have Free Shipping days, but those are few and far between.
I consider myself a discerning shopper, so I watch carefully for items that go on clearence or have the occasional free shipping. And if it's something I really need, I acquiesce and pay the shipping.
I will continue to purchase items through QVC, but it would be great if we could get some kind of break on the shipping charges. Thank you for your time.

@cathysyd I do agree, with a minimum purchase it would be nice to get free shipping. However, HSN tried that and it didn't work. Many here complained about it, which was a bummer, I benefited as I waited to purchase anything until I reached the minimum for free shipping.
QVC used to offer a discount with multiple orders of the same items. But, the shipping was "actual" shipping to begin with. It's been awhile but I think it was around $7 for the first item then 1/2 off shipping for the additional items.
In my opinion, the $3.50/5.50 is extremely reasonable as far as what it actually costs to mail packages. I am okay with these prices and an occasional free shipping day.

@cathysyd They probably could if they earned millions of dollars with upfront fees altthough even those fees are on the rise because shipping and handling everywhere has gotten more expensive.
I know from personal experience that someone ends up paying the "house" whether the house is a casino, a company, or a government. Free does not really exist.

I'm OK with QVC shipping charges. There are some companies who offer free shipping, but the majority do not. Catalogs I get from Blair, Coldwater Creek, etc. charge $10 just for a top. And, another $10 if you have to return it.
The shipping costs aren't just the amount of mailing an item. It also includes paying the people who pick it, package and mail it plus the cost of the packaging.
I'm OK with $3.50 per item.

@cathysyd, I agreed with you whole heartedly.
The shipping charge is a money maker for them. When I shop I look at the total cost. Many a time the shipping determines whether I make a purchase on something that is a mere whim.
I don't shop the app so how much do I detest still having to place something in my cart before I see the shipping cost!!!

Etoile309: Yep, agreed! I tried doing the app on my phone but it kept closing on me, so I got rid of it.
And I also agree that many times I have decided not to purchase something because of the shipping, particularly if the item I am purchasing is on clearance and the shipping charge is 1/3 of the clearance price.

cjm61: I didn't realize that HSN tried that once. I think I vagely remember when QVC used to offer discounted shipping on multiple items. I would even be okay with that.
I agree that $3.50/$5.00 is pretty reasonable compared to other sites, but I wish that it wasn't per item. That gets pricey, especially if I order multiples around Christmas, and a lot of times determines how much/if anything I buy. For example, I have purchased things from Laura Geller's site and they charge $3.50 for everything, not per item.
The sites that get me are the ones that offer you a free this or that, but then you have to pay $10 to ship it. Or the ones that give you a free $25 gift card, but when you apply the $25, it brings you below the free shipping level. They get you coming and going. ![]()

DrakesMomma: That's for sure!

I remember when HSN tried it. It was if you spend $75 shipping was free. They also stopped free shipping on brands that always had the free shipping without having to spend $75, that when people complained and they stopped it.
