Re: SHOUTING Hosts

[ Edited ]

I think Rick D. has improved as a host for jewelry. The last three times I watched, he presented the items with great detail, he had good rapport with the jewelry designer and gem gentlemen, and he showed excitement about the products but was not shouting. His jewelry presentations have improved in my opinion.

I feel sorry for Martha Stewart when she is on with Rick trying to sell her wine..... he is absolutely  Over the Top!..... she's has such a nice voice to listen to and Rick is all over the place.....

His presentations actually stress me out...so hyper, fast talking, and loud....  so I usually don't watch him.... but I do like Martha ... she really doesn't deserve this...

Some of your hosts have the habit of SHOUTING. This forces me to mute the volume, or change the channel altogether. I know that many other Q customers feel this way, as it's frequently been discussed in the Forums.

I'm sure you are losing business as a result of this. This method of selling comes across as insincere, and reminds me of the old hucksters and snake oil salesmen. The biggest offender in this regard is SS.

I don't in any way mean to be snarky. I'm simply trying to be helpful, as that is the purpose of Suggestion Box.

@FuzzyFace: Indeed. This tactic might work for some people, but it sure as heck doesn't work for me-- it has the opposite effect!

I agree, Rick is the worst.    Does he have  normal voice?

I think Antonella is right up there with the shouting.  She was on with Lisa Rinna and they were both shouting so much that I had to turn the channel.  It was very hard to watch.

QVC's hosts overall are awful to listen to.  Harsh voices, annoying habits like saying "Ummmmm" over and over, shouting and sqealing.  This channel never used to be this bad.  I don't invite people into my home to shout at me, so I'm not going to invite them in via the tv either.  Have to add that a lot of the guests are just as bad.  Instant channel changers.  Lol, when I'm not watching, I'm not buying!

One of the reasons I don't watch live programming.  They get so excited and it becomes about them and not about the product.

Yep. I record a presentation I'm interested if I know one of the shouters will be the host. I can then fast-forward through the parts I don't like. I'm sure this tactic is costing the Q money but they sure don't seem to care.

I no longer watch live broadcasting unless it’s something I’m interested in buying. Too many old movies on TV to be stressed out over the shopping channel.
