Re: SAGING FOR SPIRITS

[ Edited ]

Before you try "saging" inside your home....burn some of it OUTSIDE to see how much smelly smoke it will produce..it STINKS.

A friend "saged" my rental home years ago and he is not welcome to come back. He asked if he could do it, and I didn't consider what he meant and bemusedly allowed him to proceed....(he was dating an airhead who I called "Dreamy Girl"...crystals, mood rings, sage nonsense, and  she thought the original "Exorcist" movie was a documentary...Sheeesh.....)

You're burning dried vegetation ( fresh won't burn any easier than fresh grass clippings)

Like dead leaves.

It will NOT smell pleasant like the fresh sage your put on your Thansgiving turkey.

If it's a rental apartment make sure you let your neighbors know you're going to burn dead leaves in your apartment...

And whatever you do, don't get it near your clothes closets, your upholstered furniture, your drapes. It STINKS. And your stuff will smell for weeks afterwards cause I think it has an oily burn to it.

I see someone else here mentions opening the windows and doing it. If you do it, that's a good idea.

Don't say you weren't warned.

My first house in 1981...the owner committed suicide in the garage in her car ( carbon monoxide) a week before the closing...the agents asked if we wanted to cancel the purchase....

We closed, but I always regretted not asking for a 10K reduction in the selling price ( we were young and naive).

But we got it back when we sold.

SIlly superstition in my opinion. i had pets die in my home too...no worse result than a broken heart. And that heals in time too.

But that's me, I'm not dreamy.

Sorry, but did I miss something here?  Did we just skip Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas and jump right into April Fool's Day?

@Bookplate  - This is not a laughing matter for others on this thread.

@San Antonio Gal, I agree. We all come here with different life experiences that help shape our beliefs.

Though some may not hold the same beliefs, I think we should always be respectful of them.

And unfortunately, when saging for the purpose the OP mentioned, then closets very much should be included.

@GingerdHead   I am not the only person in my household who has seen these spirits.   My daughter is  "sensitive" and has had experiences thru the years.   My son passed away two years ago and did visit me.  It was brief but  I definitely saws him and spoke  to him.  It has not happened since.   I do believe he has opened a portal.   When you're dealing with the unknown I believe anything can happen.  That's what concerns me.   We have yet to sage the house.

@zitawins   Thank you for your kind response.  I have not tried holy water but I will.   I'll get it at my church.  I will do that before the saging.
