QVC moderators need to be consistent

Some posts are immediately moderated while others are moderated hours or days later.

Some threads/posts receive feedback about why they were moved or deleted while others just disappear.

Some posters ask questions, and QVC moderators respond. Other posters ask questions and are seemingly ignored.

yesterday

Hi Everyone,
This topic has been blocked from new replies because posters were making accusations against each other. These posts have been removed because it is not productive dialogue and is off topic to the original question about moderation.

In response to the question about moderation, as stated in our Standards for Participation, QVC does not and cannot review all posts. For this reason, some discussions or individual posts may remain for a period of time until it is Reported Inappropriate or until it comes to the attention of a moderator. QVC may, at any time, remove content in violation of these guidelines.

We continue to strive for consistent moderation, but we will always let you know why a post was removed even if the conversation was taking place over a period of time.

Thanks for sharing that, Adelina. Clearly, that moderator hasn't checked the latest policy/procedure manual because they are deleting posts/threads without any explanation.

Re: QVC moderators need to be consistent

What concerns me is that there are examples of threads where posters ask questions. The moderators choose which questions to answer and ignore the others. I think it's rude of them to do that considering they have obviously opened the thread and could have easily seen a post with a question sitting right next to the post that was ignored.

Hello, wildcat fan. Smiley Happy

I think the moderators really are doing the best they can and it seems that they're doing a much better job now.

Re: QVC moderators need to be consistent

The moderation is much more consistent and active than it ever was on the old forum (thank you, mods). It is as consistent as human beings are going to get. They look when someone brings it to their attention. If no one does for half a day, then they won't see it for half a day. I suspect that if a post gets a single report and to the mod the post isn't clear-cut, they may wait until they get a second or third report. To me that's logical and an intelligent way to moderate.

Re: QVC moderators need to be consistent

I don't know.  I personally have seen two, a man and a woman who seem to moderate with sense.  There's another guy that I've nicknamed Thor because he comes down with a hammer and there's little explanation.  I'm not mentioning names because I am not getting blackballed.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Re: QVC moderators need to be consistent

@Bird mama I've seen exactly what you're talking about! I can tell when certain mods are on duty. It's like watching QVC: We like some hosts, but others not so much. Getting to be the same with mods.

LOL I wonder if we could get them to release the moderator's schedules so that we can plan our Community posting just like we do our QVC viewing. Then we'll know which time slots to avoid. Smiley Happy

Re: QVC moderators need to be consistent

We don't actually know how the moderation is done. We don't know that a moderator hasn't looked at the context of a post. We don't know that a moderator hasn't been reading an exchange for a page or two - it doesn't take that long. We don't know - they might consult with each other for a consensus. They might have somewhere to check how many times a poster has done the same thing - their track record. When something doesn't go your way it's easy to say they're not trained, they can't know what they're doing, they're biased, not very smart, and a lot of other things that have been said about moderation in general. But we don't KNOW how they do things, or what their qualifications are. So it's all mostly negative, mostly unfounded, conjecture.

Re: QVC moderators need to be consistent

It's not that "something hasn't gone my way."

My opinions are based on what I've observed--no conjecture to it. The mods behave one way in one circumstance and another way in another similar circumstance. I will not provide specific examples here, but if there is a webbie supervisor, he/she just needs to review yesterday's and today's activity to find evidence of inconsistency. There's plenty to review.
