I remember back in the day, Kathy Levine saying the Host's shows were constantly evaluated, and they were always getting feedback, by a team of various people. I have no doubt these Host's are evaluated regularly and critically, probably in a way that would make most of us and our annual or semi evaluations, cringe in dread!
The fact that you or I or Jane Doe, don't particularyl care for a certain Host, doesn't mean that Host isnt doing the job QVC expects. And I have no problem with QVC, who's signing the pay check making the decision.
If it were left up to us, the customer, there wouldn't be any Host's because they all have their detractors, just as they all have their fans.
Some people seem to think because they and a handful of posters, can't stand a certain Host, everyone feels that way.
Just as an example, I really enjoyed the work of Patti Reilly, yet, she also generated some of the ugliest criticism, I've seen on the forums.
Many people raved about Lisa Mason. Probably a lovely lady, but, as a Host, she was one my least favorites and a little of her, went a long way.
No one Host is going to please everybody. I don't watch enough for anyone to really bother me, but, if they did, I'd simply not watch. It's home shopping, not like my life is going to be really affected, if I miss a show, because I don't like the Host.
Great post!![]()
If the hosts needed correcting on their job performance. Their boss would correct them and if they didn't improve, their contract wouldn't renewed.

One poster stated "You keep mentioning the complaints are "a small minority"...well I read that one complaint equals 800 people." Well that goes both ways and not only for the complaints!!!

Hi NJ4Jays---
I thought your post was well written and certainly brought up a valid point.
One of my pet peeves is people that won't tolerate a well thought out suggestion in the SUGGESTION BOX .....don't they realize that QVC put this topic in the forums for ......gasp....customer SUGGESTIONS!
Don't pay any attention to these Q cheerleaders who can't tolerate any constructive criticism.....

and it appears there are more complaints than praises these days.....and a top exec resigning says every thing is not all hunky dorky at QVC....You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but others should be allowed to post a valid suggestion without being given a little dig....after all this is the SUGGESTION BOX!

Why do some think that they need others to "come to their defense"??!! It's an opinion and not a life altering in any way!! Many have differing opinions. That is life! Why must everything be about right or wrong?? Some (and not all) of these complaint posts are just downright rude and not constructive criticism at all! Some might not like how a particular host presents things but many others have no problem with that host's presentations. Now if nearly every poster - more than just the same few - had the same complaints about a host that would carry more weight but that just isn't happening here and it's obvious. Then when that happens, the same few keep "coming to the others' defense" about something that doesn't need defended. I state my opinions and I am always mocked because I don't have any problems with any host as they don't have any effect on whether I purchase something or not. If I would happen to need more info I just check online. Others opinions count even if not in agreement with yours!!!

If there were evaluations half of the hosts would be gone.

Spurt, I soooo agree with you! Any time comments are made about a host the defenders come out in force calling us haters for an opinion. They say it is not important. If that is true then why don't they (the defenders) just ignore the comments about show hosts and go on to another thread? We have just as much right to complain as we do to compliment a show host.

Also - it's nearly always someone who expresses a strong personal opinion about a topic they know is polarizing. Their post "states it like it IS (i.e., their opinion, the only accurate one of course)" - and they proceed to do so using poor spelling, grammar and sentence structure. So yes, they as individuals, and their opinion *as it is presented* are going to be judged. NJ4Jays, did you see my comment #6?
The truth is, people do evaluate you and others on their punctuation and grammar. If you can't put a proper sentence together, why on earth should people take you seriously? Standard English is one of the hallmarks of an educated person. Most companies require good communication skills of their employees. That includes being able to write a complete sentence and a cohesive paragraph.
People are not writing for a living here, they are not being graded except by maybe a few. They are not trying to impress anyone with writing or English skills.
I agree that punctuation and grammar are important but this forum is not rocket science.
If someone happens to make mistakes, what harm is it doing. Some people get so carried away they do not take time to check their grammar, punctuation or spelling but they get their point across anyway.
I think that it is very hurtful to point out some ones mistakes especially since we do not know the person and we are not all scholars.

I still think it is extremely rude to point out some ones grammar, spelling, English or punctuation on this forum. We do not know if the poster has the ability to be "correct" maybe they were not able to go to school or are not able to learn as the rest of us. Maybe they have a mental challenge and do not know the difference they can communicate but do not know correct grammar, English, punctuation or spelling.
