Re: QVC do your host get an evaluation periodically?

I'm sure they are reviewed but what a small minority of the same few posters here think is wrong with certain hosts is in a lot of cases just them watching and trying to find fault with the hosts and actually is just their own opinion and not the actuality of that host's job performance.

In all the years I've watched QVC never have I witnessed any host being rude! It seems some take any joking hosts do as being rude. There also have been very few instances when I found that the information on products was not given satisfactorily.

Well you must have missed it and NO I do NOT watch QVC all the time either....but I have witnessed hosts being rude and by that I mean being condescending and talking down to a vendor or co-host or many times some of the hosts constantly interrupt and will not even let the vendor finish a sentence!!!! THAT IS RUDE! (and I'm not talking about giving an update on which items are selling out---it was just a matter of the vendor not being able to get a word in edgewise)...

You keep mentioning the complaints are "a small minority"...well I read that one complaint equals 800 people. Just read across the forums in many different topics and there are the same complaints over and over by different people and different type of products....and with their financials being not so hot, and a top Exec resigning SOMETHING is definitely WRONG!

Some people spend way too much time worrying about a shopping channel.

In the grand scheme of things, who cares? Flip the channel. Buy elsewhere. Get on with your life.

Your comment is definitely valued But there are those of us who do care, we have a say because we spend our money in the home shopping network.

I for one am getting on with my life and still watching and shopping and evaluating.

I'd guess their evaluations are largely based on sales figures...

Yes, it seems clear, some people spend way too much time worrying about a shopping channel, and then too some people spend way too much time worrying about other people worrying about a shopping channel...

Re: QVC do your host get an evaluation periodically?

They used to because they used because some of them mentioned having to watch tapes of their presentations.

All the hosts are under contracts so I would guess that at contract renewal time, they are reviewed.

I guess we are only supposed to have one thought process.

Imagine how bad life would be if we did not interact at all. Just because someone renders a thoughtful opinion does not mean they are obsessing over a shopping channel. We can all walk, talk, and chew gum at the same time. Geez. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Re: QVC do your host get an evaluation periodically?

They should be forced to watch themselves - I don't think they are. While it would be impossible for any one of the hosts to correct everything that people comment about (and some of it is contradictory), there should be basic standards that are adhered to:

1. Nails should always be done (freshly polished or filled). It is disgusting to see them sometimes, especially on HD. I've even seen some that appeared to have dirt under the nails and it wasn't a gardening show.

2. I'd prefer that the hosts always wear QVC clothing, but that is impossible to enforce for the males hosts, since they don't sell it. At the least, dress professionally. I've seen some hosts wear things that make me cringe expecting a wardrobe malfunction. LOL.

3. Constant practice at elocution to eliminate those verbal yips; such as excessive um's or parrot talk (amazing, amazing, beautiful, beautiful).

4. Leave out the personal talk unless you can directly relate it to the product and only after you relay the pertinent information about the product.

5. Politeness - don't cut off your vendor or push your way into the camera shot when they are explaining/showing the item.

The same rules should apply to vendors. I only watch QVC a couple hours during the week and do most of my viewing on the weekends (when they are not selling those same items over and over and over again). So, I have to assume that I am not witnessing things that occur only occasionally. It seems that there is a culture of not caring going on there. Maybe that is a result of the CEO who just left. Things were different before she came and even before Mike George took over. That may be the root cause and they need to take a close look at that. I always stuck with QVC and was proud to say I owned things from QVC, but they have eroded my loyalty and confidence in their quality.

Those of us who mention things are the canaries in the coal mine, so to speak. They are losing money amd they need to pay attention or they will be out of business.

Of course, this is all my opinion.
