@castlenv wrote:IMO, from reading these forums, QVC is an addiction for many people. QVC was great when it was the only game in town but now every store has a website and of course there's Amazon. Obviously, the repetition attracts many people or the Q wouldn't do it. These are also the high profit items--beauty rproducst, QF, SG, D&C, etc. They also focus on the "flavor of the week" e.g., KVZ, now Vionic, etc. I miss the variety of 10/15 years ago.
Skip watching and check out the products you're interested in on the webiste and look for "entertainment" elsewhere.
And people who don't buy, and don't watch, and haven't for months or years by their own admission (boast?) are clearly just as addicted as the shoppers. They are addicted to posting on the forums even as they profess boredom and disinterest in the whole package. Go figure.

she asked if I would mind if we stopped at a few stores (keep in mind she shops everyday!) -- I don't normally shop unless I need something or a great sale.
First stop Kohls:
I'm walking thru Kohls and it struck me "hmmmmm nothing but the same stuff I saw 2 months ago.
2nd stop:
JCP - haven't been in that store since Christmas
3rd stop:
Bealls FL - same old stuff.
4th stop:
Macys -- nothing I hadn't seen before and I was there last month.
don't ask me why this popped in my head "it's just like Q that we complain but I just wasted 3.5 hours mindlessly "wandering" looking at the same ole stuff! At least, Q I flick the channel!!!!
There's a distinct advantage to QVC in that it is on television. IMHO QVC doesn't utilize this fact very well. By combining a constant change of merchandise while entertaining their viewers (by entertaining I don't mean laughing and silly stuff for an hour).... I believe that QVC would be doing extremely well.
I used to sell antiques in three Antique Malls for years and realized very early that every time I re-arranged the merchandise and floor I had great sales and the comments consistently were that my booth continually had new products to sell~! It was mainly the same products I had been trying to sell for a long time but I was in three times a week cleaning and moving the merchandise! Once a month I'd move the display pieces and furniture! Most dealers don't do this.... and neither do most stores and that's why when you went in you "saw" the same stuff. It was the same stuff left in the same spot for however long it took to sell the product....
So.... whether it's on QVC or out in the real world, it's a game of trying to make the public view the merchandise as new and exciting.... and they'll stay interested if you do, and buy, and come back.... and THAT is the name of the game~!

QVC has become an infomercial channel, IMO. And l find infomercials as tedious as watching a bridge rust, lol.
