@millieshops   Ha ha, about the old age remark! Sometimes I am more patient, but other times, I may be less tolerant! (screaming kids while shopping is a big one for me)  Woman Sad

You are right that Amazon and QVC have a different customer base.  I have never done their "prime" because I too wait until I need another item, toss it into the shopping cart, and then get the free ship with $35 or more.

Lots of interesting comments here.  It seems like the general consensus would be that people wouldn't want to pay a fee like $99 to upgrade their normal shipping cost to 2-day delivery, because if they currently chose express delivery on a year's worth of items, the extra cost for the express delivery wouldn't add up to over $99 over the length of a year.

My thought was based more on the gratification of receiving the purchase sooner, plus from a marketing standpoint, it seemed like a good incentive for customers to shop more on QVC.  Based on the opinions here, QVC would not necessarily have to hire more people, or change the way they do business in their warehouses, because most of you seem disinterested.  They would just be shipping more items as express.  So, I still think it's a good idea. Maybe $99 is high for this upgrade, and they could offer it for a lower price, but I still think that there is a good idea here to help satisfy customers and eventually make extra dollars for the company.

My point was to suggest the idea of membership in a club that allows you to pay an extra yearly fee to get your items in 2 days while still paying for the standard shipping rate.  If the cost were reasonable, it could be a good option.  Not a requirement, but an option.

Just like with Prime, most people don't choose to pay for it but many people do. Like me. And no I'm not at all interested in paying for regular shipping plus another hundred dollars for 2 day. With Prime you get free two day deliver. You don't pay normal shipping plus another 99 bucks a year for two day. That is insane.

I started adding up my shipping costs on QVC this year and only got about half way through and I'd already hit over a hundred dollars and that isn't including the few items I returned. I'd absolutely pay 99 dollars a year for two day free shipping and free returns.

Boy, I really regret ever using the words 'Amazon Prime' and the number '99' to describe my suggestion.  To reiterate, this is not Amazon Prime.  This is an upgrade where you would pay a flat, yearly fee, and when you checkout, you'd still pay the same, standard shipping, but you'd automatically be upgraded to 2 day shipping.  That's it.  I was simply using Amazon Prime and it's cost as a reference in terms of an upgrade and 2-day shipping.  Period.

If you want to add up your shipping costs to determine if this would be a good deal, you shouldn't be adding up what you paid for standard shipping.  You should be looking at what each of those items would have cost to ship as 2-day shipping, then subtracting what you actually paid for standard shipping from that 2-day shipping number, and adding up the results to see how much it would have cost you to upgrade everything you purchased over a year's period of time.  If that number is over $99 (or, let's say $39/year, or whatever number they would eventually charge for the service) then you would be winning by purchasing the service.  AGAIN, I am not talking about free shipping.  I'm talking about the benefit of a flat, yearly fee to upgrade to 2-day shipping on everything you purchase being a better deal than paying for 2-day shipping on each and every item you purchase on an individual basis.  If you don't purchase that much, then it's probably not for you.  If you do purchase a lot, and like the idea of getting your purchases in 2 days, it may be a great deal if the cost were right.

Interesting thread. I have been an Amazon Prime member since practically Day 1. Love it, and I don't even use the streaming features or book loans. This year at Q, I did pay to expedite maybe 7 orders because I wanted to be sure they arrived before vacation. The rest of the time, I can wait for the orders to arrive. Of course I wish it didn't take 8-10 days, but it does. I would not be interested in a club where the only benefit to me would be to receive every order in two days. I don't want to also pay for standard shipping and returns on top of the club fee. Sorry, I want to feel like there is some value there other than 2-day deliveries.

I think Q's shipping is pretty abominably slow. Well, actually, the shipping itself is not that slow, it's the processing to get it out the door that is often ridiculously slow. I'm hoping that the market pressure of being so much slower than their competitors (plus the same-day access of B&M stores) will force Q to get more efficient. It shouldn't take them 10 days to package one pair of shoes and it deliver it to UPS. You heard me right--10 days! When I buy shoes from Zappos the shipping is free and they arrive the next day.

It would depend on how many vendors would be willing to participate.   There's a lot that don't on Amazon.

I wouldn't be interested in QVC Prime AT ALL.

For one thing most of Q's items are not of good quality.  At least that has been my experience overall.

Regardless if you said it or not, Amazon Prime is the most well known and people are going to automatically compare this type of deal to it. And what I want IS an Amazon Prime type service with QVC, not the one you describe.

Then if they ever were to offer it, don't take it.  I think paying a reasonable, flat fee to upgrade my standard shipping to 2 day shipping is a great idea.  You and others can compare it to whatever other service you'd like.  I made the suggestion in the Suggestion Box for QVC to see, not for you to beat like a dead horse.
