Nowadays, more and more companies allow purchasers to choose from a selection of charities and a small percentage of the sale is donated to that charity.  It's a win-win situation since QVC can claim the donated amount and the charities benefit.  For example, on O,com I donated to ASPCA, on Amazonsmile, to Second Chance Rescue (where I just got my new furbaby from).  I know I get a good feeling and prefer to do my spending on these sites!  So, please consider my requestWoman Very Happy

I don't understand why it's a win-win.  Please explain using numbers please.

Not a win - win for me I donate to who I want and when I want

@millieshops

Say they get a $40 sale, QVC can donate, say $1 to a specific charity.  QVC sells lots and can claim donations on taxes; the charity gets a needed donation (I'm sure most charities are grateful for anything they get), so, QVC wins and the gifted charity wins.  (I'm sure if the Q's net returns ons sales could be balanced out in tax deduction claims.)

It's optional, you don't have to elect any charity - just something you can choose to do and nothing will be donated.

At Amazon Smile I chose to donate to St Joseph's Indian School in ND. So everytime I make a purchase Amazon Smile makes the donation.  I can change the recipient any time, or every time.

I use Amazon Smile, too.  I think it's great.  I signed up to donate to a French Bulldog rescue.

I think it's a great idea. For those who don't want to donate, it's optional.

I just read an interesting Forbes article about how women-owned companies are the largest portion (percent of total companies) that do this.

Also, since the '80s, when top executive salaries started to skyrocket, donations by these (high-salaried execs) companies decreased significantly.

@ILTH

Not surprising about women-owned donating more, because I think we're more focused on those around us.

I am surprised that donations went down as salaries decreased - IMHO, that's just selfish.  Shame on those high-paid execs.
