As for facebook, I'll bet some QVC committee team made assurances that all of us were 'old boomer grandma types' who were already on facebook anyhow.
Suggest you re-think any assumption we all are or will go there.
It's reasonable to think if QVC continues these forums here, it will be with a few changes. If they're going to continue to lay out money to host this forum, they're going to have to get more from it.
More revenue, more shoppers, more good will, more whatever.
But it'll have to generate more so it operates in the black.
I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing some advertising on the forums. I suggest QVC consider this, as long as it's helpful instead of intrusive.
Suggest you place links to your ads in our notifications so we could view ads between posts, when we're ready. That would be so much better than having a distraction just show up onscreen while we're reading.
Ads for the TSV, and what's on all Q channels at this moment would be appreciated...
I'd like to see ads for some of your merchandise that's never presented on TV.
But
Please dump that 1980s going going gone sales pitch, and no I'm not mesmerized or panicked by numbers sold or colors remaining.
So off-putting.
I suggest QVC do more to let others know this forum's here.
Look how many have posted they shopped QVC for years without knowing the forums existed.
Hiding this was foolish of QVC, and it would be foolish to let this continue to be hidden away.
Your shoppers are potential posters. We posters influence and enable each other to shop right here.
Full circle.
Suggest potential posters be cultivated and invited to explore the forums.
Suggest you don't just leave it up to them to stumble across the Get Started forum and their settings options. Explain 'bumping' and other annoying behaviour. (You know we'll help newbies too.)
Suggest you intercept and hold their initial post for mod review before posting, since many first posts are customer service queries anyhow.
And lastly, suggest you maybe read a post now and then. Get the feel for what's going on over here. You give the impression we're talking to the walls when helpful insight is offered on product reviews and other areas of retail that ultimately cost you in lost sales.
I know this is just one in a long line of posts telling you how to run your business.
But give it a think, mm-k?
And p.s. Thanks for reconsidering shutting this down. I appreciate management that shows flexibility.

Great suggestions! What we have here is so much better than anything that can be offered by Facebook. I hope the new CEO is listening.

@x Hedge I suggest you cool this topic. It hasn't ended so well for some posters - and you might overstep good manners.
Just a 'hint'.............

The OP makes some good points and suggestions. But frankly, if the people at QVC could not have figured this stuff out on their own, how to make the forums work for everyone, then I am not inclined to help or continue posting here. QVC setting a date to take away for forums, then changing course and keeping them for who knows how long, is just one more way that QVC found to scr*w with its loyal customers.

@x Hedge Agree with your excellent suggestions. My son was so suprised that the forums also contain questions, suggestions, life stories, etc., that are not QVC product related. Because of this, the forum acts as a neighborhood in which customers may participate in discussions related to their lives, requests for other opinions, decor questions, recipies, etc. It welcomes and offers opportunity to see what products QVC offers. It also could provide data for QVC to determine issues and needs of their customers.

@tobes I agree with you. We are definitely a neighborhood, no matter where we live. Not everyone has a support system; and, while we are not next door or a phone call away, we are here and often that is all that is needed.

@x Hedge - I agree with most of what you said, but please- no ads!
We get those on the home page. IMO the Board is a safe place to discuss our QVC purchases and what we're looking forward to, as well as many other things friends talk about.
I will be very sad if they start getting cluttered up with ads. I pay extra so I don't have to see them when I check my email! ![]()

@x Hedge, I made some comments similar to your's last week. This forum is such an untapped source of advertising that they never utilize. So much potential. I never understood why the TSV wasn't displayed on the page. Same thing with items recently or currently aired? Very similar to what HSN has on their arcade pages.
Never understood why the forums were never mentioned by host. Especially during times when host discuss connecting, community, and family. I only stumbled upon the forums while looking for something else on the home page.
I think the board can be a beneficial source of revenue with just some minor tweaking.

Banishment? Possibly.
I've rarely had any disagreement with moderation here, and it was years ago, a case of mistaken identity.
I benefit from being here but there are other places, and I'm not emotionally attached to the posting location.
@fthunt I appreciate your concern and I should've started my reply with a thank you. I'm sorry.
Thank you.
I'm still wound up over this past week.
Thank you to everyone.
@beach-mom,
There are always more options.
I was thinking gee wouldn't it be nice if they grandfathered in posters already here and exclude them from seeing the ads.
I know that's really badly worded, but do you get my drift?
If expanding this population to increase potential revenue, but only newer posters see ads. (?)
I'd still rather tap a link to know what's selling on each channel.
Look at all that room in the left margin. Plenty of room for links.
