I hope somebody at QVC is listening.  I saw a product on The Find (tan drops) that looked interesitng.  I've never seen them before so I thought I'd give them a try.

I do read reviews, and I check to see if they are "real".

Almost all of the posted reviews were from first time posters and all 5 star reviews.  The product  mfg may think this will drive business.  In my eyes it's dishonest and I do the exact opposite, no way am I purchasing something that I now perceive is useless.

If you have to stoop to thal level to sell or promote a product then it's not going to speak for itself with actual users and real reviews.

Please QVC..limit the reviews to people who have purchased the product from you, not to just anyone who is asked to post for a sale.

Re: Product Reviews

[ Edited ]

I do the same thing. On Amazon, they confirm if the review is from someone who actually purchased the product, but that doesn't stop people from reviewing them.  Perhaps QVC could do that.

Speaking of Amazon reviews, I was looking for some magnetic false eyelashes, so I thought maybe one of the more reputable vendors might sell them on Amazon. Boy, was I wrong. There were so many knock-offs, and the supposed top seller had SO many reviews, all positive, all done on the exact same day. Really?

Click. I didn't purchase that product and now, never will, no matter how many verified purchasers there might come to be.

@Jtdmum  So happy you are posting this.  I showed my husband the reviews for several beauty products a few weeks ago from one brand.   As you stated, they were all first time reviewers and gave the product 5 stars.  In some cases they reviewed several products but they were all from this same brand, and again 5 stars.  USELESS reviews which just give biased info and  boost the rating of the product.  It should be easy enough for QVC to spot and stop.

I do check reviews too but if it’s something I really want I buy it. Not everyone reviews a product the same way. I’ve filled out many reviews through the years and most if not all are 5 stars. If I feel it’s less than that send it back. You have 30 days. Also you have to “check mark” if you purchased the item or not. QVC can verify your account easily. IMO there is no deception.

@OKPrincess Yes,  and that's fine because you are giving an honest opinion.  We're talking about not just 1 first time reviewer,  but maybe 6 in a row all reviewing around the same time,  and then there are some who have maybe 3, 4 or 5 reviews and only for the one product line and all 5 star.  It's just very fishy looking and not legit.   I too purchase what I want and sometimes google for reviews,  but it's the dishonest ones that are pretty obvious that we think should not be allowed.

This is the very reason that I do not pay attention to reviews.  I would much rather get the product and try it for myself.

Exactly why I don't pay any attention to QVC's product designations such as "Customer Top Rated" or their award winners every year.

I just decide for myself.
