I read a response to a comment I made on a forum post.
I believe it was a warning from one of the moderators. It's states that I should be checking the dates of the posts and that if they are old I should not be making comments on them.
Wouldn't it be easier for the moderators to just close the comments on that post?
It certainly would be more polite to do that than to admonish someone for posting on an old thread.

Here is the post that I've received in response to my comment on the old thread:

You have bumped an old thread that has been inactive for more than a year! Please check dates on posts before replying, as this could get you banned if you keep doing it. It's against Community Standards.

How was I to know this was against Community standards? This is QVC. I was just sharing my experience with a product... I I wasn't using foul language, hate speech or offending anyone.

generally, any thread that is over a year old and has no additional responses for that period of time is considered OLD and responding to it is considered bumping.

I found the post in question, and the reply you received was from a fellow poster, not a mod.

When you registered to use these forums, you agreed to abide by the Community Standards. Suggest you read them.

I've never had that happen, but if I did I would feel exactly the same as you.

That reply by the moderator sounds ridiculous to me. If that post was left up, why in the world shouldn't you respond to it? Check the date? or you could get banned? What a rude and nonsensical response.

These people who run these things aren't doing a good job, obviously.

I wouldn't care if I did get banned, oh my heavens, for "violating" community "standards". Maybe that moderator should look at his/her own standards in running this two bit operation.

I have seen posts get bumped that are well over the year and they are allowed to stay.
