Re: Make *Repeatedly* Challenging Moderation -

As much as we'd like to, we cannot control anyone but ourselves.  I really don't care if someone challenges moderation or accepts a poof.

I don't understand why some are so disturbed by this. If they are not the ones challenging just move on to the next comment if you don't like something someone says.

It is kind of like what people say when they comment if you don't like the host or the product just change the channel. If you don't like a comment just move on to the next one and ignore it.

Re: Make *Repeatedly* Challenging Moderation -

If I see a thread title that appears to be a reaction to a moderator action, such as described in the OP, I skip it. Usually I don't even know what the kerfuffle is about, so reading it is pointless. I don't open the majority of threads on this forum, so skipping a few more won't bother me. I am happy to let the mods deal with the situation.

Re: Make *Repeatedly* Challenging Moderation -

I got a time out for about 5 hours for posting a link a week ago or so that was not ok to post.... I realized my mistake and was just thankful they did not ban me.... I was thankful and now will be more careful.  I felt it was a fair reprimand.

I have been given time out for things I thought were not fair but they are the moderators and can do what they want so I take it with a grain of salt and wait til my time out is up.

It is really hard to know what is "baiting" "inappropriate" or "insulting" when so many do th same things. I can however see getting time outs for pushing the mods with posting after being deleted and using a different but same intention in comments.

If the moderator deletes a poster's reponse for whatever reason, they should be given a time out.  So many time outs should result in being banned.

How many mods are on each shift? Just wondering.

I agree in principle, but I do think there are different types of deletions. Deleting a post for being "argumentative" for example isn't (to me) as egregious as being flat out deliberately insulting to another poster, with intent to be so. Posting a forbidden link is not much compared to calling out the moderators and calling them names. Starting controversial and/or political threads? If the same poster starts 10 such threads. Yes there is a pattern. If they've done 1-2, not so much. If a given poster responds rudely all over the forum, in multiple threads, wherever they post - that's different than a heated exchange or two in a couple of threads.

I do wish they could/would keep count of some things, make a list and check it twice (just like with Santa), and act a bit more swiftly and decisively than they have been. But they may not be able to.
