This is 1) a moderated board; and 2) THEIR website, so they can moderate it the way they choose.  It's like being on somebody's private property - abide by their rules or leave the property.

I think there's a lot of leeway between what we're stuck with now and "out of control".

Surely it's possible to find a happy medium.  I wish they would strive for that rather than being so stifling.

I also think if they had properly moderated the old forums in the first place, this drastic change wouldn't have been necessary.

I started my career in criminal justice working with juvenile deliquents.  The defiance of certain posters who are pushing the envelope and challenging the moderators remind me of youth with a diagnosis of Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Unless we are here 24/7 to read every post, we have no idea what comments actually brought a thread to removal by a moderator.  

I learned the hard way that Viewpoints was not a good place for me to be.  I have been  ripped a new (fill in the blank) several times by a few posters who had differing opinions.  Now those same posters seem to be acting sanctimonious. Had their comments been preceded with an apology of sorts for owning their past behaviour I might be more receptive to a sudden change of heart.  Hope springs eternal.

I predict the change to this board is the first step in shutting it down and at this point I would agree with that decision.  When complaints/attacks far outnumber accolades, it only makes sense.

Truthfully I am very happy with the moderation.  I have been around for years but rarely posted because of the environment.  The community guidelines are there for a reason.  I am thankful for the boards because even though I previously rarely posted, I enjoyed getting feedback and reviews on products.
