I love fleece robes. The nice weight fleece of years ago but I'd put up with the light marshmellow fleece (it's ok, I really don't like it) if I could only find a robe WITHOUT a break away zipper!! WHY do ALL the robes being sold now have to have a break away zipper?? Why isn't there a choice?? Not all of us like the Carol Hockman product.
I've looked since last summer and that's all that's out there. When you sit down with a break away zipper, the robe slides up exposing your legs to the cold and the end of the zipper jams into my legs.
The best robe I ever found was STAN HERMAN's fleece Night Shirt robes. Luckily I bought 3 of them at the time, but they are getting old with use. Four buttons at the top and it goes on over the head. Nicely weighted old fashion fleece, a couple of pockets and the bottom of the robe had a smile on both sides.... cute and warm!!
I can't even find them pre-opwned on eBay..... *sigh*
We miss you Stan..... we really do!

The best microfleece robe I've ever worn is Stan Herman's robe of season past (2014). It is a full front zipper, petite and soooo comfy! The sleeves hit just at the right place on my wrist. The length - perfect for this 5 ft. gal. Bought it in the burgundy. It's so nice I don't hesitate to walk out the front door in the morning to walk the dog. I live in an apt complex so it's not like on public streets.
Love, love, love it. The best ever. ![]()

There is a Stan Herman wrap robe available here. Is it a wrap robe you want?
I don't know what a breakaway zipper is.

Check out Bob Mackie's robes. They're so heavy, I nearly roast in them. Many are overly embellished but I've been known to cut off the "faux gems". I don't know about the zippers but I've never had one "break away".

I own a monogramed ankle length very thick terry cloth wrap-a-round robe. The color is dark green & my name is bright yellow in the script font.
I found it years ago on Overstock.com. The monogram was free.
Warmest bathrobe I've ever had. Going on 6 yrs now. Going to keep wearing it till it rots.

Since someone mentioned nightshirts, I would check out the men's department for their fleece nightshirts---before they put away the winter stuff. I usually find well made, well fitting, and less expensive items there for myself: fleece vests, fleece jackets, etc. Of course, you reall need to try on these items for fit. Good Luck.

Check the Vermont Country Store dot com. They have a variety of robes, but they may be a bit picked over at this time of year.
I am looking for a long, pull-over style robe (no zippers or buttons) but I need some cotton in the fabric, I can't wear 100% poly fleece.
Other websites to try:
Lands End
LL Bean
Norm Thompson
Macys
Good luck! I hope you find something.

You should check out TJ Maxx, they have tons of fleece robes and they are all on sale now.

Thank you all for your great suggestions~! Didnt think of the men's department and will check out the websites.
A break-away zipper is a zip front robe that comes apart at the bottom of the zipper. It can then be used as a wrap type robe if you have a belt, or just like a long coat over PJs. I really don't like those because they're open a foot at the bottom front and the end of the zipper bothers me when I'm sitting.
I haven't seen the older fleece anywhere in a long time... only the mushy micro-fleece, which is ok (it's lighter) and feels kinda like marshmellows....
I have one Bob Mackie zip front robe and agree that they are heavy and full of beads and such. The one I have is very nice except for the front break away zipper.
I really appreciate all the suggestions and will poke around on the suggested websites and look around. I may have to wait for next year.... and just hope that my favorite robes wll last a few more years.... lol! ![]()

I don't know what a breakaway zipper is.
No, I'd rather have one that zips up but the zipper doesn't go all the way to the bottom. The breakaway zippers allow you to undo the zipper so the robe becomes a coat of sorts.....
