Re: How do you Moderators determine how/when to start a new forum category?

@Keyai

@Eva-QVC

it was mentioned briefly in the handbag forums that it would be nice to have a dedicated GILI forum, especially since this is a qvc based brand of handbags, clothing, shoes, and accessories. please consider this a formal request.

thanks to @Bird mama for the suggestion!

        For what it's worth, I'd love to see a "Travel" subforum!  At the same time, I can understand that the forum design has to be taken into consideration, since the list of subforums on the left side of the page could get cumbersome, so it might help for the tech staff to take a look at frequency of topic discussions, or inactivity in some forums, that sort of thing.   Great suggestions, @World Traveler and everyone!

@dooBdoo Thanks for your post. Maybe if enough of us indicate our desire for the Travel subforum, it will be seriously considered. Smiley Very Happy

Still am curious as to how they reach a decision......the process to saying yay or nay.

I recall that one of our forward-thinking posters already reviewed activity in the "My Favorite Brand" sub-forums and listed the results in a post.  I don't know where that was posted but I believe it was @bebe777 who conducted the analysis.

I think a "travel" forum is a good idea.

The Sisterhood Handbag thread in the handbags forum consists of posts from women who are multidimensional and multifaceted.

Life is more than just handbags.  In addition to handbags and we discuss many brands on that thread, we do ask how each other is feeling and support each other through challenges.

In my opinion, that's what Community is.  As far as being a clique - I personally don't see it.  I am one of the newer posters to that thread and it is because of shared experiences with Oryany bags (in that thread) that I just recently spent in excess of $400 on two Oryany TSV satchels - the Sarah.

This is not the first time that the content of a thread in which I post has been challenged because 'life' talk was intermixed with 'topic' talk.

I have two threads in the Among Friends category of the forum that are primarily small talk.  That said, we've discussed TSVs related to plants, biocleaner cleanser, yard art by Plow and Hearth and fashion.

Am I supposed to parse out a normal conversation and say here's the small talk but if you want to know about something I ordered from QVC for my yard, go on over to the Home forum or the Garden forum and I'll tell you about it?

Stick a fork in me - I am done with the immature behavior in this Community.

And, since I am on a roll, I would suggest that posts about HSN's and Evine's Today Specials, complete with item numbers, be posted on HSN and Evine forums.

Re: How do you Moderators determine how/when to start a new forum category?

Hello, World Traveler. Smiley Happy

I'm not a moderator, but this is just my guess as to how and/or if a new sub-forum is added.

I started posting about Nick Chavez awhile ago before a sub-forum was added for it. When I first started posting about Nick Chavez, it was just one thread. One really, long thread.

I posted all sorts of things about Nick Chavez himself, his products, how his products worked and what each of his products do. I also let people when Nick would be on QVC, what time he would be on QVC, how many times he would be on QVC, when his products would go on Easy Pay, which of his products got Easy Pay, how many Easy Pays there were, how many Easy Pays which products got, when he had fun things going on at his site, when new products from Nick's were released, where they were released (Nick's site, QVC and/or both), ect.

I did this for about a year. I always kept talking about Nick Chavez and posting info about his products and him, even if no one responded (which I understand, because have  other things to do outside this forum).

Also, if anyone had a question outside of the Nick Chavez thread, like "which shampoos are good for color treated hair? Does anyone know of a dry shampoo? Is there a shampoo that will help make the hair thick?" I would suggest Nick Chavez' products to them.

After awhile, Nick started coming on QVC more often and got more shows to himself. Then after some more time, Nick Chavez finally got his own sub-forum under the My Favorite Brand catagory.

So, that's how it happened. My guess is that sub-forums are added based on popularity and how often people talk about the product or subject. It may also help to concentrate it into one thread. Even if the thread gets really, really long, the moderators may take note and add the sub-forum taht you want. But it will take time. Perhaps a long time.

~Nick Chavez is my favorite vendor on QVC and Alberti Popaj is my favorite QVC host.~
Nick Chavez now has his own sub-forum under the My Favorite Brand folder
