QVC's programming goal is to sell, entertainment is just a potential byproduct.
According to a report on the Wall Street Journal on this subject, now several years old, is that QVC lengthens presentations as long as the product sales are meting their expectations and they have inventory.
It is when the product isn't selling that they cut the presentations short, so they can move to a product that they hope sells better.
Complaining about the length of the presentations serves no purpose, since they mean the products are selling to QVC's goals, which serves QVC's purposes

They ARE too long. How much time is need to describe a simple top?? I can understand electronics being longer but nothing else. AND the hosts would not have to blabber inanely if the presentations were short and to the point.

I believe the longer presentations are on products that are NOT selling well.
I agree. IMO, there is a certain "quota" that needs to be reached in each presentation and the host babbles on until it is reached.

My post wasn't meant as a "complaint," just a suggestion or inquiry. QVC knows what works best, and maybe thousands of customers love the personal sharing, jokes, etc. Most of us here on the forums have watched quite a bit and are "over" all the chat.
I don't sit and watch but have it on when cooking, cleaning, etc.
I remember years ago I was watching a clearance show on HSN, and they were whipping through the items pretty quickly. I liked that.

If I need something and think QVC may have it I will search the site and watch video if really interested. New vendors I will pull their products up. I also will look at things suggested by posters. I like innovative and positive changes but in MHO Q has regressed.

Well said, and ITA.
But, let's do the math .......
Granted, running an online and on-TV retail company can't be easy. They need shows to cover 24 hours a day ... that's 168 hours a week of hosts presenting ... whatever they have in stock.
So .... They have 168 one-hour shows a week. If they were to do half hour shows that would be 336 shows per week! What could they possibly fill all that time with? Invicta watches?
And someone PLEASE tell me why they need three QVC channels. What is THAT about?

I actually doubt that anyone enjoys these lengthy presentations. My point is people are buying the item presented, and QVC wants to close these sales before moving on, to make sure the customer doesn't move on without completing the purchase.
When customers stop buying the item, they move to sell something else.

Why 3 channels? More audience, more sales of course. Multiple channels one of which are reruns are great for those who work and/or busy and not able to watch one channels programming. Its really simple.

It's getting to where I seldom inflict Q viewing on myself anymore. I would like to watch but it's become too painful of an experience. Honestly, the majority of the hosts annoy the heck out of me!
