In most cases this is an argument that falls on deaf ears with me, as I figure the hosts tend to know easily as much about the product as most vendors and, for the most part, I find most vendors superfluous... That said, I make it a point to NEVER watch Rick but I broke that little pact with myself last night because I was interested in seeing what I assume was the first Roberta's show of the year... I'll never break that pact again. Granted, I make no bones about it, I cannot abide Rick, but even for him he was in orbit last night. I also doubt that he's any kind of horticultural expert... I really wanted to hear what the young man from Roberta's had to say, but it was just impossible. The poor kid couldn't get a word in edgewise and even when Rick asked a question the vendor attempted to answer Rick, the big mouth, would interrupt him with his phony, expansive antics... I'm always awed by people who claim to like Rick because he's so 'enthusiastic'... Folks, THAT, is NOT enthusiasm. It's his excuse for salesmanship and it's offensive, nerve-wracking and obnoxious. Never again...

My thoughts exactly. He is another one that I can never watch longer than five minutes.

Honestly, he's impossible! That poor kid from Roberta's, I don't think he knew which way to turn... I've seen him on before with less ridiculous hosts and he does a great job. I actually felt bad for him being paired with that over grown energizer bunny... Rick is a walking, talking caricature...

Re: Hosts Interrupting Product Specialists!

Nice little host basing thread going here. A good chance to air our complaints about the ones we do not like. For me it is Shawn, she is a train wreck, ridiculous, immature, constantly putting on a show. Ummm, Ummm, Ummm can I just say, let me just tell you.

Let's assume the hosts stop all "interrupting," and then we can begin to see the following complaints: "Why didn't they tell me that they were running low in this color?", "Why did they not notify us that there were long wait times on the phones?", "Why did they not warn us that there would be no reorders?".

The product "specialists" are mostly sales people for hire. IN many cases (at least on the few shows I watch), they do have important information or any sort of special knowledge. They provide a relief for the hosts whose job is to encourage people to buy and to move the presentations along.

If one really wants to know the ins and outs of a product, its features, and its problems, the best solution is to do a quick search online. Everyone posting here already has internet access, and a quick web search will be far more advantageous than sitting and listening to a paid spokesperson

But what about the hosts that interrupt to tell us "important" stuff like how their daughter's dance recital went, where they went to dinner the night before, or what they had for dinner, kid news, kid news, how bad the weather was when they drove into work.....

And if QVC does not give me enough details on a product and I have to go online to get product information, then why does QVC even bother to have TV Channel.....it would be easier to just go online in one step review product details and place an order just like any other online retailers...TV is supposed to give QVC an advantage the others don't have to see the product demonstrated or how the clothes look on a model etc etc......

Re: Hosts Interrupting Product Specialists!

Thanks for the great reply's! I figured I wasn't alone. I held back with the names because I didn't want to slant the thread its the initial posting, but as I figured, some of the names mentioned were the ones that I had in mind. First, if I have to go to he Internet to get the information that I should be getting from the guest or even the host, I just might accidentally discover another site the sells the exact same item for less! Does QVC think sending viewers to other sites for further information is a good idea? I doubt it! I was watching when Rick was first introduced as a new host. You should have seen him! Meek, mild mannered and quite the gentleman! Not now! When the Q had a LazyBoy on recently, I wanted to buy one to replace my current one. Unfortunately, I ended up having to watch the segment with Rick hosting! Yikes! A funny thing happened. My son is a fan of horror movies. He really likes the flick that Rick was in. It was from quite a few years ago. As my son was walking by the tv to leave the house, he glanced at the screen and stopped in his tracks! He said, "wow, he sure has changed! What an ax". I almost fell out of my chair! That about sums it up for some of the QVC hosts! And about Shannon, yep! She's something else! When Wolfgang puck is on, she is a wild woman! A two martini lunch doesn't do her justice! LOL Keep up the great posts!

Did you see lazy Boy with S.K.? First she had mattresses on which she never got up from and then the Lazy Boy which she sat in the whole night. What a dork.

Re: Hosts Interrupting Product Specialists!

Yeah, I did! Crazy! I was actually very interested in getting a new LazyBoy so I watched a few different segments on it. Or at least tried to! I pulled the plug on rick's presentation in less than ten minutes. Then a couple of others. Finally, I decided to just go to the local LazyBoy showroom and see them in person. I really wanted to know if the chair back had the ratchet mechanism on it. Something that the hosts wouldn't let the expert get to. Every time she wanted to cover the mechanical aspects of the chair mechanism, she was cut off by the host trying to tell us which color was in the lead. Like that means anything to me! Recliners without the ratcheting mechanism always want to go back to the upright position while you are trying to lay flat in them. I ended up buying a new one that they actually had a few of in stock, so I took it home with me that day. $669. I don't know the model name, but it was a large size with that new material. The thread pattern was different. The sales guy said it was a 2014 model, hence the "clearance" price. I didn't realize they sold cars! LOL

I am glad you found what you were looking for, it is so frustrating to want to make a purchase from the Q and the host talks us out of it. Has happened to me.

Re: Hosts Interrupting Product Specialists!

Even my husband, who just overhears it when I am watching, will stop what he's doing and make comments about the hosts talking all over the vendors. Unprofessional! And it does derail the presentation.
