I posted a few comments on Facebook last night, and I also emailed QVC via the 'feedback" option, so this additional post is my 100% attempt to be heard by QVC.  Please don't tell me to just not watch the shows--I love QVC, and they need to know that customers who WANT to watch are changing the channel.  The practice of allowing hosts to purchase WHILE HOSTING is blatantly unprofessional.  If any of us went into a brick and mortar store and a sales rep interrupted our experience by running to purchase something for her/himself, especially because they might not get THEIRS before the inventory sold out, you can bet a complaint to management would be in order.  QVC: please tell Shawn Killinger and any other hosts to cut it out.

I LOVE Shawn but I agree with you guys too. I think this too is a sales tactic because come on do they not have access to the web like the rest of us especially while they sit there in their makeup/hair chair just prior. Not only that, they know well ahead of time what is going to be in a show. You often hear them talk about research they do on items AND they are given samples. Ladies don't fall for this selling tactic! It's no wonder the prices are so inflated, the comission that has to be paid to these guys is crazy! If we believe Shawn bought everything she said then she dropped well over $1000,00. last night.

Yes, I recall over the years many hosts commenting that they will be ordering "after the show."  Can you imagine if all hosts did this all the time?? Wouldn't QVC want millions of viewers to hear details of the items instead of millions hearing what size and color Shawn wants?

I wholeheartedly agree!!  I've seen hosts do this a number of times, but last night was WAAAYYY out of line, especially if items are close to selling out!

I saw a large portion of the PLW show last night, and frankly I think the size 2 she kept ordering was too small on her.  If we have to hear her debate the size, commenting on it is fair game.

If this is a contrived sales tactic, then Shawn deserves an Oscar for her performance during January when she claimed to be on a shopping freeze while hosting a show--I think it was Anybody--and she even admitted to the vendor that she hadn't heard what she had just said because she was trying to fight the urge to buy. And then she later hosted a Clarks show, and she was so unenthusiastic it was embarrassing.

This has to be the worst sales ploy ever!  And if it's not a ploy, then that's even worse.  The minute a host does that, I change the channel.  I refuse to "compete" with the host for an item I might want.  I wish that QVC would make the hosts order after the customers have the opportunity to do so...not before or during.

I agree ...but also for another reason. The host is there to sell items. We are watshing to purchase items.I find it wrong for the host, totake merchandise, that I may want, when her job is to sell to me as the customer. When I see an item is sold out,how many times have hosts purchased that item so that possibly there are none left for me.I think its unfair, for the hosts to buy the items, bsfore us,as customers!!!

You hit the nail on the head.  She is there to sell, not buy for herself.  They are there to do their job, sell.  Can you imagine if everyone shopped for themselves while working?  The hosts job is to make things available to their customers, not themselves.  Shawn was over the top with her buying for herself last night.  I had to change the channel.  Someone in charge needs to talk to her about this.

I think Shawn's performance last night was orchestrated by the sales response each time she said she was purchasing items for herself - I don't think she would continue doing this unless it was helping generate sales as the producer is telling her what phrases are working and which are not.
