I understand offering easy pay for high ticket items like a computer or a stand mixer. It’s a head scratcher why anyone would go on auto delivery for a beauty kit and pay for it over six months when said kit is a four month supply!!

With other items, the hosts always say “You can get this home for $5 and change”, but they are being a little deceptive when not saying “$5 and change per month over the next 5 months”.

I understand it’s the buyers responsibility to know what they can afford, but promoting and literally screaming about such a great value (and I don’t think $30 plus shipping for a T-shirt is such a great value anyway) says that some people will say anything to make a sale when they could actually be driving customers away.

A suggestion would be to offer different easy pay options on different price points since some people want to pay once and be done, some might want a few months to pay, and some may want the option to pay over a longer period of time.

It has to be a budgeting nightmare for the frequent buyers, (of which I am one), so you don’t realize how much you are spending-or is that the idea?

It is also very frustrating that when ordering on line, and if you use speed buy it automatically preselects you for easy pay and it is NOT easy to back out to one payment. I’m guessing someone gets a big bonus on service charge and late fee income on the Q cards!

When using 'speed buy', there is a box (right above the 'submit order' button) that you can check which allows you to 'edit' the easy pays and method of payment, before you click 'submit order'.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

@ocookie  you can always pay off the payments in advance if you would like to.  Or, order through a customer service and tell them you want to pay the entire item at once and not use ez-pay.

I don't always use the ez-pay option, but I think it's nice to have that option since many people are on tight budgets and it makes it possible for them to purchase items that they might not be able to purchase at once, like a Vitamix or other more expensive item.  I purchased a vitamix and a bose wave machine one Christmas and it was nice to have those gifts payed over time instead of all at once.

Just go to your account and click through to get to the future payments if you want to pay them off.  I'm sure QVC does this as part of their marketing plan in order to have a lot of customers forget about upcoming payments and spend more then they intend to..

I just wish that instead of so many ez-pay offers every other day, they would put more free shipping days.

@ocookieMy reaction is not to you personally because I've seen many posts like yours, but I really don't quite understand who it is you are trying to protect.  For all the posts like this, I can't remember a single post ever in which someone complained they thought the EZP $$$ were the total cost they were agreeing to pay and I've been posting here through thousands of posts and I've been reading here way more than I post.

I don't see how they're being "deceptive" when the full price of the item is right there on the screen.

I don’t care for the tactic either.  But I don’t find it any more deceptive than a car company making a big deal out of their monthly payments (or lease payments) for ‘X’% interest for ‘X’ number of months without ever mentioning the full price of the car.  Furniture stores do the same thing.  A lot of places use this sales tactic now.

It doesn't appeal to me in the least because I pay cash for everything I buy or I don’t buy it.  But I have had people I know tell me that they don’t care what the item costs as long as they can afford the monthly payments.

@ocookie  - Even though you make a purchase with a 6 Easy Pay option, you have the option of paying the item in full the very next month if you want.  In other words, you don't have to carry about the payment plan for 6 months.

I also don't see why someone would be confused about the total cost of a product when it appears on the screen.

Easy Pay is a nice option to have and no one is being forced to use it.

Easy Pay is one thing, but 29% interest on a Q credit plan is something else.

I don't understand why people concern themselves so much with easy pay. We see posts about "make it go away", "too much easy pay", etc. If you don't want to use it -  don't, but why would you care if someone else uses it? Also, as noted you can always go into your account and pay off easy pays anytime you want. QVC will NOT turn down your money.
