Why does Dooney not make more of their purses with silver hardware.  There are so many bags that I would love to purchase but do not due to the gold.  Also for the price of these purses the s&h should be free.

I agree, I prefer white metal hardware on my bags, with a few exceptions.

I'm sure Peter Dooney would say because it's the way they've always made them.  This is a company that disregards customer desires so I pass on many (most) of their bags.  My gripe, in addition to the hardware color, is the lack of outside pockets.

@Kachina624Or Dooney knows some of us want gold?

I wear very little silver jewelry, and most of what I do wear is super casual.  I'm a gold girl for the most part.

I do have purses with silver hardware, but I wouldn't pay Dooney prices for silver.

I like it best when the hardware makes sense with the color of the bag rather than having every bag offered with the same color hardware.

i cannot answer your question, but i know that hardware color is not a deal breaker for me at all. maybe there are a lot of others like me?  i have a nice assortment of goldtone and silvertone accented handbags and i use them all. i tend to like weighty, unique, and well styled hardware in all tones.

I agree with you about the hardware making sense with the color of the bag.  And I would add the bag lining to that as well.  I too, wish Dooney would do silver hardware.  At this point, the bag has to be extra special for me to purchase another Dooney.  Have all I need and the styles are pretty limited.  Just different colors or treatments of leather.

Re: Dooney Purses

I  am a Dooney collector and have many that I purchased back in the 80's still in excellent condition.

One of Dooney's icons is their 100% brass hardware.  Almost all of ther bags are still made with brass, though they do coat the brass with nickel and have even on a few occasions made nickle hardware.

Brass hardware is a quality metal and it lasts.

Ditto OP comments.  Gold/brass hardware on shades such as smoke (gray), some blushes and blues - I'm sure I've leaving out many shades - look much better with silver hardware.  It is a deal breaker for me.  There are too many other choices from which to select.  Not loyal to any one brand.

Their best selling bag, the LogoLock, is done with the silver hardware. I loved this bag for a short while. Then, it just became so heavy and user unfriendly that it went to the dust bag and has been there a couple of years. I think their bags are way over priced, and I get bored with a bag too quickly to pay for a lifetime bag to be passed on....

The bags are well made but I need outside pockets too and not many have them.  Another reason I don't buy is the weight. The Dooneys are just too heavy. And I won't pay their prices for nylon.
