I sarted writing about noise I hear and boom the writing went off. It says autosaved but I can't get it back. I called companies--ac ones incase but no one hears it. I can't sleep much. Just don't know..Men hear clocks ticking. I talked to my son about it and we have fights over it--the noise. I even put things in my ears. They have fallen out over night.I don't think I am going crazy. This has been going on and getting worse and louder since my husband died 2 years. Any ideas?  I need help. I see my doctor in a few days for a check up.

Do you hear the noise when you're not at home too?

Just relax and see what your doctor says.  Or try to get an appointment sooner.  He (or she) is the best person to help you.  No one here can properly diagnose the problem.  Your doctor can talk to you in detail and do an exam.  Fortunately, you only have a few days to wait.

I'm not sure what you mean by, "Men hear clocks ticking".

This isn't the first time halfpint1 has posted about this...thinks the noise is in the house like something is running, can't sleep gets up & goes to her son's house. Might be a motor running on an appliance, a vent fan in the attic or something completely different like ringing in the ears...anyway the OP can't seem to find anyone who can help. Maybe this time the Dr. appt will bring some relief.

Please wait until you see your doctor.  There are no answers here.  Good luck.

Yes, there are several things that it could be, and it might not be anything medical.  But (especially because no one else hears it) her doctor is in a far better position to help than any of us here.  Hopefully she'll have some answers soon.

@halfpint1.  Don't let your doctor brush off this problem.  INSIST that he refers you to an audiologist.

@halfpint1, Please let us know what you find out from your doctor, because, I also hear a sort of humming type sound in my house most of the time.  I do have hearing loss and a hearing aid that I rarely use.  But the hum is constant and I know I am not imagining it!   So, please post here when you get back from the doc!!  Thanks!

Ringing in the ears seems very common in seniors.  Perhaps you hear it more when there is no other noise like a TV to distract you?  Anyway, describe it as best you can to your doctor.  Write down when you hear it and when you don't.   Do you have any other accompanying symptoms, like balance problems?  The more info you give him or her the better they will be able to help you.  This may be serious and it may be nothing.  I'm betting on nothing, but you have to get it checked out.  Be sure to mention all meds you are on, from my own experience I know these may be overlooked as a cause.
