I, for one, have ZERO interest in the personal lives of the hosts. I shop some stores locally and, while I'm a "regular" in some places, our friendly chitchat is more about the items they sell or even the weather or current events. I know virtually nothing about their personal lives. It doesn't make me buy less from them because of that!!!! In fact, it might even make me buy more!

Thank you...thank you!!! Have been saying the same for years. I am not interested in anything personal related to the hosts - family/children, pets, vacations/trips, home decor or personal attire!! As I have stated in the past...do you care what your Target salesperson eats for dinner or what your Dillards cashier's child does for fun or if your salesperson at Home Depot likes to travel??? The answer is probably a resounding NO!!

All Q hosts and salespeople at retail stores are just people that engage in selling...that is their job!! Please QVC, keep the item presentation focused on the product!! I would prefer for hosts to show the inside of a purse, to describe the item in dimensions and textures, to present the clothing colors correctly without mixing them up etc etc.....

I totally agree with everything you said! I don't care what flavor of ice cream is a hosts favorite or what their favorite color is!!!!! It's all a sales ploy anyways to make us feel like we are friends with the host, thus trusting everything they tell us. Really annoying. Please get back to actually telling us about the products being sold!

I think they do it because attaching a name to a product sells. You only have to "listen" to the poster who love Louis, or feel sad that Judith sold her company, or who get as involved with Chaz' dogs as they do with his WEN to know making that human connection is part of the whole marketing scheme.

I'm absolutely certain that the first time I ordered Ripka, it was partially because of Judith's personality. Fortunately for me, the pieces I ordered (and this was long before I even knew these boards existed) went back the same day they arrived because the quality was non-existent. I tried once more maybe 5 years later, but the power of personality doesn't overcome the power of a product that doesn't work for me and in spite of liking Judith's manner, I don't own any of her jewelry. Maybe if I were younger and led a different life, I'd buy something couture, but that's just not happening.

Works the other way, too. I like what I order from Susan Graver, but just look at all the posts from people who admit they don't buy her line because of her personality. They are virtually admitting that it matters whose name is attached to products. And I can't think of any reason for QVC not to promote from within when they have personalities millions are already familiar with. imo.

Names are all over, not just at QVC. Without even moving from my computer chair, I see Kate and Vera and Tory. Who's in your house?

Good post. I agree with you. I don't mind hearing about their personal lives but only as long as it doesn't interfer with providing the information and details of the items they are presenting. Lately the chit chat seems to be in lieu of providing details needed for me to make a purchasing decision.. I do admit that if Lisa really likes an item she's presenting, and orders it on air, I do take a 2nd look at it. That is mainly because her style is more my style.

I agree with the OP and also your comment. Relevant information is rarely given anymore. Now that the hosts blather so much about themselves, I actually feel less like they are a "friend". They aren't doing their jobs. There are a few hosts who do. Right now I only watch because I love Isaac's fashions and I love Hagit and the Israeli designers. I have enough pearls, so Honora isn't even a draw anymore. That's it. Maybe an occasional seasonal decoration. I also love Dr. Roth's skincare.

If I'm spending money on Shipping & Handling, I want to know the facts about the product.

It's easier for the hosts to ramble on about inane things than to do their homework about the products. I also think that the current management is probably Generation "X" or whatever. Young people who are superficial and think the shallow and frenzied presentations are wonderful. Well, maybe when their bottom line shows that it's a failure eventually, a light bulb will go on in their heads. It may work for a while, but in the end people will get disgusted sending things back. If QVC wants to cut down on returns, one way of doing that would be to have better presentations and camera shots and honesty about the products. For example, dishonesty might mean "skipping over a really important fact". One time I got caught up in a frenzy over a purse (this was about 8 years ago). The colors were going, going....... Well the purse had no closure at all. No zipper, no magnet. No, it wasn't the GILI. I can't even imagine how many people returned those purses.
