How can a tv salesperson disrespect me by the way they dress?

And if the employer feels "disrespected" by the hosts manner of clothing, I'm sure they would address it and it would change.

Absolutely agree with this. The flip side, if someone is being PAID to WAIT ON ME, I don't care if they are dressed in rags, jeans, or haute couture. If they are PROMPT, BUSINESSLIKE, AND POLITE, they're fine. If not, I'll gripe.

Re: DRESS CODE- presenters and hosts???

Dress has nothing to do with respectfullness!!  I don't care how someone is dressed if they do not do their job then they are not respecting me or their employer!!  In my lifetime I have observed (based on my many years supervising) that many and most who dressed old style appropriate office attire were the ones who were the slackers, complainers and not very accurate workers and the casual attired picked up the slack and just did the work they were hired to do as well as correcting the errors of the so called "appropriately" dressed.  Respect to me is how well someone does their job.  Some need to learn how to accept change.  If no one ever changed we would still be wearing the clothing from centuries back - so obviously change happens and is going to continue to happen!!

Re: DRESS CODE- presenters and hosts???

The company I worked for had a no jeans policy. Many years ago, we did a charity jeans day that was hugely successful. Everyone wore "appropriate" jeans (meaning clean, no holes, etc) and otherwise dressed professionally. Received many comments about how much people enjoyed it. But, it was not to be repeated...

Until this summer when they had Friday jeans days. Why the change? Because they had a meeting with all the little millennials and they asked for it. They also asked for puppies in the office but didn't get that. But they got a few of their requests - as if they were new and revolutionary ideas. So, in other words and as others have said, times are changing.

It's not necessarily what people wear, but how they act.

Re: DRESS CODE- presenters and hosts???

@Alter Ego.   I worked at a major college for 30+ years and during school breaks we had "jeans" Friday.  But as you said no holes or distressed points.   I also agree "It's not necessarily what people wear, but how they act".   We all know in the real world people on all levels are judged by the clothes they wear and their appearance.  Part of this shows even on QVC when they stress designer named products.  A certain designer in every show compares the items on air with products designed by Stella M and other well known designers and therefore we should save money and buy the item presented.   The fashion industry controls the major changes in fashion and those who want to be "in the know" follow like lemmings.  Times change and the change can dictate the clothes chosen by many of us who have moved from mother at home to working woman and then to retirement.  Fashion magazines, celebrities, TV and even shopping channels will always be there to convince us to keep up with the "newest style" so they can sell products or they can not make money.  For those of us who have lived this for many years we all know what's old is new again.  We can shop in the back of our closet as just as current as the newest styles.   If you don't believe it go to a Salvation Army store and look for clothes from the 70s or 80s and you will find out the college students have grabbed them up as soon as they come in.  Many of them loved the the era of hippies and freedom.  They love the Grassroots Festival and other such festivals where free souls can flourish or so they say.  I love the music but my asthma does not like the smells in the air.  I not only could get high but I have trouble breathing but these festivals are a different story.

Same posts on Facebook, as well...word for word.

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.
For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

Re: DRESS CODE- presenters and hosts???

I agree the times have changed but I do not agree with the way some of the host's dress. Some look like they are going for a day at the beach, some look like they are going to work in the yard, some look like they are getting ready to paint or clean and some look like they belong in a strip club.

What is wrong with a nice dress or a nice pair of pants or jeans with a nice sweater or blouse instead of some of the masquerade outfits we see.

When you are hiring and paying the hosts then you can impose your dress code for them. Until that time, if it's ok with QVC, then it's ok.
