DIGITAL CAMERAS WITH HIGH ZOOM

I want a camera with a view finder and high zoom range. I bought a camera that had a 30 digital zoom and view finder. When I tried using it on full zoom, I found the picture so shakey in view finder and on 3" screen. I took camera back. Q has a couple I would like to buy, but I need to know how to correct the shakiness -- is it me? is it normal? did I just have a bad camera? Any advice is welcome. I want to get a new camera before September. I want to buy one and keep it, not have to return.
