I had to call customer service the other day. PLEASE,PLEASE get rid of that awful music(?) they play while one hold. I finally hung up it was so terrible.

I totally agree! Why can't we have silence? Talbots' hold music is absolutely torture!!!! It's the worst. I have to take Advil if I'm put on hold on the Talbots line.

IMO whoever you call has music on hold so the caller knows they are on hold and haven't been disconnected. That's my take on it.

Ideally, your time on hold should be short enough that the music doesn't get to you.  I think that should be your complaint/request:  make on-hold times shorter.

Maybe that is the goal.
