I really like CIJ but the 'ramped up' hosting today, with vendors all patting each other on the back, plus the return of Jennifer Coffey, is just over the top! I had to turn the sound off! Maybe some people respond well to this sales tactic, but I don't. It only seems a couple of months ago that JC had the enormous, over-the-top farewell party, and now she's back! What happened? I'm sure most of the customers buy when they like something, but don't if it's not what they want. Jumping up and down, fawning over vendors, even the seasoned hosts are doing it now, is just not believable.
My pet peeve though is this - DIAMETER IS A MEASURMENT RELATED TO A CIRCLE! Maybe the card just says D, but the hosts should understand basic measurements.
I've been a customer since 1989 and just hate the hard-sell tactics now used. Kathy Levine doesn't do it, plus she gives all the details in her presentations. Jayne Brown doesn't do it, and it's very obvious from regular comments on here, they are by far the most well-respected hosts.

I agree, so theatrical! Alberti really needs to calm down; his fake excitement is annoying to say the least. Must be orders from above for them to behave this way.
Even Susan Graver seems to be ramping it up. She is always a talker but lately she has been over zealous saying how she cannot believe the price when something is on clearance. She yells, it's practically free. Calm down Susan; most of us don't even like it!

@CABRIT - I never understood the grand farewell they gave Coffey. Surprised to see her back repesenting Slatkin. Seems like all the plans she talked about fell thru and she came back representating a vendor.

So many of the newer hosts are phony with all their faked exuberance. Like You I turned off the program on Saturday. I enjoy everything about Christmas and CIJ has interested me for well over 2 decades. I've mentioned several time I've been a loyal Bethlehem Lights customer having bough alll my trees usually in the July sale. This past year I replaced all my trees, garlands, wreaths with Blue Spruce and buying "AS IS: shortly after the holiday I was able to get display/demo items. I saved a fortune. But I try t pick one exceptional item from Valerie during CIJ and will be watching this year. I'm not a fan of everything Valerie presents but some of her pieces are very unique and well made and a little expensive. Ive learned over receint years as the economy was tough for quite a few people, their after Christmas "As Is" returns are a great way to snap up some nice tree trim/decor pieces. The past couple years have been a lot of trashy Chinese over-glittered pieces and paint jobs that look like children has produced them. I haven't been able to determine the dates of this year's CIJ - everything on the program is (R) Reruns.

You make valid points. As a long time QVC shopper lately I purchase more from QVC.com and not the shows because the presentations have become Cringe Worthy. I know people do not like when people comment on hosts however I think many times it is feedback that the higher ups really need to start listening to If they don't want drastic sale decline. Example, for years I've enjoyed the VPH House to Home shows, She is a class act and I purchase so many of her lovely items. Now all of a sudden they are scheduling her constantly with a loud in your face character who either repeats what she says, rediculously Inflates what he thinks the cost should be elsewhere or just talks over her when she while she is giving descriptions. I call this guy "Crazy Eddie" like the obnoxious pitch guy from the 80's. The lovely VPH does kid along with him but more and more I see some of her facial expressions but she is too classy to shut down his childish antics. I keep hoping they will announce his retirement after 30 years I feel it's time for him to move on with his tired sales tactics. Sorry for the rant but it's just my thoughts. Well if they continue to keep scheduling Saint Nick I guess I will save money and also have less migraine headaches. Happy Christmas in July all!
