Re: Amy...please stop the whispering

Stevieb, I agree with your evaluation of voices of the hosts. It should be a requirement that hosts on air have pleasant, resonant speaking voices. Amy does not. She definitely does not. Sometimes her voice is downright shrill and hard to listen to. I do turn the program off off or walk away.

I agree with you... Television is largely a verbal medium that relies heavily on the spoken word... add sales to the mix, and an unpleasant, ineffective voice isn't a plus... Some seem simply to 'like' Amy, find her 'adorable', 'well dressed' and so on... All of which, as far as I'm concerned, are secondary to her ability to manage a show that requires people of all types to listen to her for long periods of time.

If we are going to complain about voices, add to the list all of the squeaky valley girls, or the nasal stuffed nose girls, add the ones that sing to us in a high pitched voice.

If we are going to have to listen to them at least teach them to talk, speak correctly and intelligently.

Absolutely! And also teach them proper grammar.

You're absolutely right... and her monotone, sing-songy drone, nasal delivery and tendency to 'lecture' are but a few of the reasons why another Q host, best known for her theoretically... uh, straight shooting... hearth and home features, is on my 'do not watch' list...

Carolyn has a great voice , I think it has resonance, and not everybody has that, I certainly do not.

I agree, she does. I enjoy Carolyn and find her easy to listen to. Lisa had a good broadcast voice as well. I also agree with handygal that Amy, on the other hand, unfortunately does not...

I totally agree that Carolyn has a great voice as did Lisa. Amy, Courtney and Gabrielle -- not so much. Many vendors are very hard to listen to also.
