Apparently the Giants didn't think OBJ was worth much, but the Patriots changed their mind when they agreed to whatever the Giants were asking for. I kind of envision the conversation going something like this.

Pats' GM: "So, would you be willing to trade OBJ, and what would be your price?"

 Giants' GM: "Everyone's available if the price is right. For OBJ we'd be asking for a first and fifth round pick."

 Pats' GM: "Sounds good. We'll take him."

 Giants' GM: "Wait, did I say a first and a fifth? I meant a first and a third."

 Pats' GM: "We can do that."

 Giants' GM: "No, what was I thinking. No, his price is two first round picks."

Pats' GM: "Sounds fair to me."

 Giants' GM: "Actually, he's too valuable to trade. Sorry." Then to himself. "They think he's worth two first round picks? What am I missing here?"

What happens with Antonio Brown will be very interesting to watch. He's doing everything in his power to get out of Pittsburgh. They'd be smart to let him go for whatever they can get.

Yeah, it sure sounds that way. Oddly they didn't give his agent permission to seek a trade. That's often the first step in a mutually agreed upon trade. Maybe they are hoping to ship him someplace he won't want to go? The agent will only try to find a trade partner that the player likes, so the Steelers are apparently looking for the best offer from anyone, including places AB may not want to go. That could ruffle a few feathers. I suspect the Steelers management is asking "Where would AB be the most unhappy? Let's give them a call." It's kind of a cheap and tacky way to punish a guy, but AB deserves it for how he's behaved.

I have been reading your forums for a long time. I can’t tell you just how much I have enjoyed all your comments and have learned so much! Long time Steeler fan here (almost embarrassed to admit it with all the drama going on) however all this nonsense has pushed me to finally post here. 

Looks like we will be starting our season without “Mr. Big Chest and Lev Bell. Who would have ever believed it? So glad I chose jerseys of Villanueva and Connor. My hope is that we can get a decent offer for him but I’m not holding my breath.

Welcome to the thread! Alejandro Villanueva is a great guy's jersey to have. He's a really good person and football player. He impressed me in his short stint with the Eagles and has been a solid player for the Steelers.

It doesn't look like any team immediately tagged a player yesterday. The franchise tag was able to be applied starting at four yesterday afternoon. From what I've seen, no team was waiting with the tag. They've got two weeks to use the tag, so there's no real need to rush, but sometimes teams will do it early. Expect a flurry of tags being applied in that last day or two of the tagging window.

The Steelers won't tag Le'Veon Bell, but I don't expect him to sign anywhere quickly as he reportedly wants $50 million in his first two years. That's an awful lot of money for a runningback.
