Interesting info regarding Sam Howell...the Eagles wanted Sam before McKee got hurt. 🤔

@Spurt

Yeah, the Eagles' beat reporters say the deal was in the works before Tanner got injured. The Eagles like Sam and heard that the Vikings weren't thrilled with him, so calls were made and a deal was struck.

@gardenman

From what info you provided they said Sam Howell always played well against the Eagles......JMHO BUT maybe Howie thought since Washington's two backups -- Sam Hartman and Josh Johnson haven't played well at all, and would be cut, and Marcus Mariota had a pectoral strain in 2024, and other minor injuries throughout his career, perhaps Washington was thinking of signing and bringing Sam Howell back for a 1 yr deal, since he played the Eagles well. Howie probably didn't want Washington to land Howell in case something happened to Jayden or Mariota?????? Stranger things have happened!

The Bengals and Trey Hendrickson have agreed in principle to a new, one-year deal, according to multiple reports. It will make Hendrickson one of the NFL’s highest-paid defenders for 2025, with a $14 million raise to $30 million. However the star edge rusher still is scheduled for free agency in 2026........

Cowboy's Micah Parsons is currently the NFL's only key player without a new deal.....WTG Jerry Jones lol !!!

Washington released C Nick Harris, CB Essang Bassey, WR Michael Gallup, T Tyre Phillips, DT Norell Pollard and WR Braylon Sanders.

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2025!!!

I don't bame Micah Parsons for being upset. Other teams are signing players and cutting deals except the Cowboys. Parsons has proven that he needs to get paid.

The Raiders signed Amari Cooper to a one year deal. WR Jakobi Meyers requested a trade when contract talks failed. The Raiders say they won't let him go, but after Cooper's signing maybe they'll change their mind.

The Bengals were smart to keep Trey Hendrickson. Their defense needs all the help it can get.

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2025!!!

Cut down day. Teams need to be at 53 players by four o'clock ET. Roughly a third of the players now on the rosters go bye-bye for a bit. Some come back to the practice squads, and some move on to other endeavors. A lot of very nervous players out there today.

Positions to watch on the Eagles are WR and the o-line. A lot of good players at both spots with limited roster spots for them. I'm guessing the Eagles keep more kid o-linemen and let the vets go, at least temporarily. I think at least two rookie o-linemen will make the cut in Drew Kendall and Myles Hinton. Cameron Williams might sneak onto the 53-man roster also, but is more of a long shot. I'm not sure Drew Kendall earned a spot as much as Howie is going to get tired of drafting kid backup centers and having them poached. Kendall has shown enough potential that you don't want to lose him. Matt Pryor and Brett Toth could both be out, at least short-term. I'm not sure there's a huge market for either guy, so they might revert to the PS, and both are vested vets, so not subject to waivers. A team can't claim them, but could outbid the Eagles for them.

Wide receiver is tricky. The top three are pretty locked in with AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson all pretty secure. Then things get tricky. UDFA Darius Cooper has shined from the OTAs on. He's earned a roster spot. John Metchie was just traded for and has star potential. Ainias Smith is a punt returner and a recent draft pick who's played well. All three have earned a roster spot, but only two may get one. Johnny Wilson is on season-ending IR, so that opens up his spot. Do you hope to sneak Cooper, Metchie, or Smith onto the practice squad?

The QB room will be Hurts, Tanner McKee, and Sam Howell. Kyle McCord will revert to the PS if no one claims him. The RBs are Saquon, AJ Dillon, and Will Shipley. Tight ends are Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, and likely Kylen Granson.

It'll be an interesting day today as teams make their final cuts.

Kenny Pickett got traded from the Browns to the Raiders, he needs to thank his lucky stars to get away from the dysfunctional Browns!

My sister is depressed the Giants waived our paesano, and her favorite, Tommy Divito!! Personally I would have gotten rid of Winston an ongoing problem too many interceptions! But maybe Winston was a better mentor to Jaxson?

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2025!!!

Going to a Pete Carroll team might be a good thing for Kenny Pickett. The kid has talent. He needs stability.

The Giants are infatuated with Jameis Winston for some reason. Teams have been rebuffed when they've called to ask about trading for him. Russell Wilson seems to be their starter with Jaxson Dart in reserve. Keeping DeVito and trading away Winston would have made more sense to me, but whatever.

The Giants will be an interesting team to watch this year. I find it hard to believe they won't be a dumpster fire, but they have some talented players. I love Cam Skatttebo coming out of college. The o-line is still a big question mark. They were still trying to resuscitate Evan Neal, now at guard. At some point, they have to realize he's not a player and move on. But it's the Giants, so maybe not.

The Giants need a good first and second week. They need to be at least competitive with the Commanders and the Cowboys. If they flop in those two games, things get ugly. You're looking at week five against the Saints before another reasonable chance at a win. Then maybe week ten at the Bears, but the Bears are looking pretty good. Pull the upset in week one or two, and things look better. Get blown out, and it'll be a very long season.

I just don't see a way the Giants have a good year. If they don't get a win before week five against the Saints (and they won't be favored in any of those earlier games) and then lose to the Saints...yeah. Not great. A possible 0-17 record becomes likely in that scenario. Good for the 2026 draft position, but bad for Adam Peters and Brian Daboll. Maybe the Cowboys roll over and play dead in week eighteen, and the Giants eke out a win, but the Giants need to get some momentum going early if they want to turn things around.

The Saints will be a bad team, but they get to play a lot of other bad teams, so that helps them. The Giants will be a bad team playing a lot (and I mean a lot) of good teams. Not good for the Giants.

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2025!!!

I was hoping the Browns would trade or cut Shadeur Sanders. So far in the short amount of time he's been here, he's caused drama whether it's his fault or not. Fans saying he wasn't given a fair shot in Saturday's game due to "certain reasons" (not sure if I can say it here) is crazy. He was a fifth round draft pick and he certainly didn't show anything good in the time he was in on Saturday. Believe me, most of the fans here don't want him here.

I feel sorry for you Brown's fans.....Be prepared for drama all season with Shedeur ....I think the owner and GM are going to regret drafting him....he's going to be nothing but trouble, and just won't take responsibility for his poor performance.....Even the Cowboy's Jerry Jones passed on Shedeur, despite all the added publicity he would generate, and ya know how Jerry craves the attention for his Cowboys....So that speaks volumes to me....GOOD LUCK!

@Spurt No teams wanted him and even with his famous dad he couldn't get better than fifth round. I'm positive Coach Stefanski didn't like the pick. Our collective jaws dropped when the Browns took him- another dumb mistake of many! It's sad when even Jerry Jones doesn't want the circus surrounding him. As if we didn't have enough drama with DeShaun.

On a positive note though, I love Joe Flacco and I couldn't be more excited about him as our starter! He somehow ignites new life into the team so lets hope he can lead the Browns to some wins.

The Kelce family must be distant relatives of the Jerry Jone's family they just crave any publicity they can get....Right before the NFL season is scheduled to begin Travis and Taylor Just announced their engagement on Instagram today🙄I wonder if the Vegas Casinos has bets you can place to guess how long the upcomng marriage will last???? 🤔I'm sure the Chief's first game will feature more about this engagement then the actual game itself 🙄
