@Spurt - I did not know that about Tony Parker with the lions - that is such a sweet story!  Love it!  And that pic is adorable!  

I certainly don't want to hijack this thread with basketball but wanted to tell you today I was speaking to one of our managers that I deal with that works at the ATT Center (since I do HR for our company) and he told me they already sold over 4,000 more season tickets for the upcoming season, due to Wemby.  He said everyone is jacked up.  No, I don't work with the Spurs organization but we have some of our places set up at the ATT Center and I work closely with the manager that runs the place we have at ATT.  He finds out everything and gets to know the players.  I hope he gets to meet Wemby!  He said he hopes the fans will give him time to adjust and not have overly high expectations right away.

And back to football - yes for sure anything for your Washington team is better than Commanders.  I wonder if they'll have the fans give any input into that idea.  I think that would be great!

Football is back! The HOF game is Thursday Aug.3 @8:00 EST between the Jets and Browns. Very few starters will play: the QBs will be  Zach Wilson for the Jets and  Dorian Thompson-Robinson for the Browns.

It will be televised on NBC, NFL+ and streaming on fuboTV, which is offering a 7 day free trial. 

HOF inductions start Saturday and last through the weekend.

It will be good to see footbal again even with backups. The other preseason games start next week. 

BTW, I don't think Commanders is a bad name. They could have chosen better, but there are worse names.

The Cowboys may need to go on a team-building retreat. Micah Parsons went in low on Dak Prescott in practice and took out his legs. Later Trevon Diggs said to Dak, "Shut your (female dog derriere) up!" and walked away.

Mike McCarthy and Dan Quinn might just be pitting the offense against the defense too much. You don't really want open warfare between the two sides.

If the Commanders want a new name that will inspire fear and loathing among their opponents, may I suggest "The Washington Bureaucrats." No one wants to tangle with those guys/gals. They never lose, even when they're wrong.

What you say about the Bureaucrats is true, but PLEASE NO POLITICAL NAMES----we need a break from politics..... Although perhaps a shorter solution that also strikes fear in hearts is the IRS!!!!...everyone fears them too....

The Commanders isnt such a good name, some NFL fans call us "commies"

DH and I own a second home at the beach.  I sat down and planned out the weekends we would come to the beach based on the Eagles schedule.  I am surprised how few games they are playing on Sunday afternoon.  I planned to come to the beach one weekend in the months of September, October and November on weeks when the Eagles play on either a Thursday, Sunday or Monday night.

@Spurt , @gardenman , @teganslaw - so I just logged off for the day and what is the last email I get from one of my managers down in Texas?  He says "be prepared as the Cowboys are going to have one of the best defenses in the league and your Sheagles better watch out".  I told him to dream on!  LOL!  He always calls my Eagles, Sheagles as he loves to irritate me with that!
