Re: NFL News and Notes for April 2026!!!

[ Edited ]

The folks at Hog Haven were checking out my UTSA Roadrunner who signed with Washington as a UDFA! He will compete with McNichols and Ford for a roster spot! Looking at tape he did well against some serious competition!

Robert Henry Jr. (5’9 197) UTSA + Shifty playmaker + Among the leaders in college football with 4.22 yards after contact per rushing attempt in 2025 + Burst through the line + Decisive runner + 6.9 yards per carry in 2025 + Over 1,000 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns in 2025 - Needs to improve in pass protection - Has dealt with ankle injuries - More burst than elite long speed....He was projected to initially be drafted on Day 3....

BIRDS UP!, RAISE HAIL!!!

@Spurt

The "needs to improve in pass protection" is a big issue. You can't play a back in the NFL who will get your QB killed. RBs need to be able to block. He might have a role as a punt or kick returner, but if he can't be trusted to pick up a blitz, he won't be a RB.

Re: NFL News and Notes for April 2026!!!

The Eagles rookie minicamp starts today. The Eagles fed the kids to the media yesterday for their first media availbility since being drafted. The kids did well facing the media jackals. No one broke down and ran screaming from the room. The kids were polite, nodded, spoke confidently, and gave the media little to criticize.

It looks like there are still eight roster slots available for kids who impress at the rookie minicamp. Edges and safeties likely have the best chance of being picked up. The team will be looking for kids who flash and look better than the rest today. Minimal coaching takes place. They're just looking for the best eight of the thirty or so invited kids. Most won't survive training camp, but the Eagles typically find one or two guys from the kids who make the final roster. You want a good day if you're one of the kids. No drops. Look fast. Look sharp. Look like you belong. By Monday, a handful of the kids will have a contract for training camp and can breathe a sigh of relief. The rest will go on to other minicamps and hope for the best.

Re: NFL News and Notes for April 2026!!!

@Spurt - thank you so much for that info!  Most likely they'll be later starts at 9:30 my time again so I'll fight to stay awake at least to halftime since I have early starts at work each day except Monday. I think that the Spurs can take the Timberwolves!  Can't wait!

@gardenman - I heard Makai's recorded interview on WIP driving to work and he was very well spoken and very kind, especially about being able to wear Nick Foles' No. 9.  I wish they woud've just retired it, but oh well!

Mark Schlereth said that its become a problem with RBs, TE's WRs, that dont block!!! . The issue is less about a total refusal to block and more about inconsistent effort, technique, and a NCAA College Football prioritizing offensive skill over blocking ability.

Even though Wemby is must see TV and even though both teams are in Central Time Zone, they'll probably stick us at a late night time slot ... And give early times to Knicks, Lakers..... 😡

Re: NFL News and Notes for April 2026!!!

@Spurt - if that happens, it  makes no sense!  Let them start either the Spurs earlier or have the Knicks/Lakers start no later than 7 our time!  That is, if they're playing on the east coast.  When they go to LA, let them start late!

I'll be really ticked off if they start the  Spurs/Timberwolves later and the fans that go to the games won't be happy either!
