I just saw that the second place finisher, Ross Miner, will not be on the Olympic team in favor of Adam Rippon.  I think I understand why they did this!!!!  but what's the point of competition if the results are ignored?  Opinions????

I feel bad for Ross Miner also, but the Olympic choices reflect a compilation of the entire season's results.  But I do think he should have been chosen as first alternate.

Figure skating is a competition and subjective.   The judges/skating people picked the skaters whom they think can compete at an international level and hopefuly win some Olympic medals.   I don't agree with this because the second place finisher Ross Miner worked hard to win second place.   I think he should be allowed to be on the US Olympic team.   This happened a few years ago with women's figure skating when Ashley Wagner did not place at the US Nationals but was named to the Olympic team.
