Anyone else watching FIFA soccer? I am. Those guys are so good.

I had two grandsons who played soccer in school, college and traveling teams. I miss those years, but glad they are all grown up and so successful in life.

I'm not into it unfortunately.  My husband was Mr. Soccer lol.  He played in high school - he's in their HOF; played for a semi-pro team after hs 'til his late 20s.  He also coached many teams.  He and his friend founded "youth soccer" in our area.  We went to a World Cup game in 1994 in Detroit - US vs Switzerland.  My grandson played too.

Enjoy!  I agree it's a whole different level.

I'm sure I'm in the minority but I have zero interest in soccer.  Most boring sport, scores 0-0, 1-0 are common.  Yawn!!

My 11 year old grandson and daughter in law just came from Boston watching Iraq play Norway. My DIL heritage is Iraqi. I watched and was amazed at the skill. My son and grandchildren have played it to see professionals is an a whole new level.

Not interested either. To boring. I don't like watching a game for hours and having a 0-0 tie.

From here, Seattle is only about a 3 hour drive and some of the tickets are not so expensive (for a fan who will sit up in the upper reaches).  A couple of girls from the league team and parents are making the trek.

Up and back in one, with parking and game.  Wow!

I for one am totally enjoying it!  Some of the matches are being played in Santa Clara, CA close to where I live.

What other major sporting event beside the Olympics has this worldwide presence?

Honestly, it's better than the Olympics as things are spread out more. You have matches in Meixco, Canada, and the US, and all over the US. The Olympics tend to be more centralized. LA is hosting the next summer games, and not much will take place outside of LA County.

I strongly suspect FIFA will be back before too long. Filling these stadiums has shattered all previous attendance records. FIFA is making a boatload of money. More than they'll make in 2030 in Spain, Morocco, and Portugal or in 2034 in Saudi Arabia. I wouldn't be shocked to see North America win the rights to the World Cup again in 2038. You just can't find this kind of stadium infrastructure anywhere else in the world.

I have been watching some of it, and I am surprised that I am liking it......I don't watch the whole game, but i wouldn't have thought that I would like it at all......Maybe I am just caught up in all of the hype.!!!
