I can do Clarks open toe sandals, if they are flats.

If any open toe sandal has a heel, I feel like I'm always catching myself from running out the front of the shoe.

I have a really cute pair of open toe sandals with a heel but I only wear them when I know I won't do a lot of walking.

@software. I have many pr. of Clark’s sandals, but prefer the slide style w/o heel strap. I always find them comfortable as long as they are the adjustable styles.

I just went to the bass site and looked at all their sandals - there were no closed toe and none were fisherman sandals.

Re: open toe vs closed toe sandals

I like both open and closed toe sandals but I only wear closed like these which are perfect for skirts, capris, jeans, etc. I have them in saddle tan {color shown}, light tan, denin, and red.

I've never worn closed toed sandals. I LOVE open sandals; own dozens of them. My favorites are the toe-loop, which are basically a Birkenstock footbed with one loop around a toe to hold them on. Yes, my feet do the gripping as I walk (all Birkenstock wearers know that feeling). Beg to differ with your earlier comment in the thread. Some of us, even at 70, do have very pretty feet, ankles and legs!

@BirkiLady - We are Birkenstock "twins"! (I know we've talked about this before here on the Forums.)

I grew up in the South running around barefoot. I hate shoes; my feet feel so constricted. But of course when I started working I had to wear them. I got my first pair of Birkenstock when I was in my 20's and never looked back. I would come in the door from teaching and put them on right away.

I have even hiked and climbed mountains in them!

My feet are one of the best things about my body. I've never had any issues with them, and I always keep my toenails polished.

I'm wearing a pair right now. When the weather gets cold here I'll switch to boots. I do own some closed toe sandals - they are my "I have to get a pedicure" sandals!

I don't own any Keen, but one of my friends lives in them in the summer. I think they look cute - one of hers is a seafoam green.

I also have a friend a year older who wouldn't be caught in sandals at all. She will wear 4-5 inch heels and pull them off - I can't.

DD used to live in Old Navy flip flops and Uggs. I've finally convinced her if she doesn't want to have foot problems later in life she'd better get some supportive shoes! I bought her a pair of black Clarks; I'm breaking her in gently. Smiley Wink

Re: open toe vs closed toe sandals

If a shoe has a closed toe, is it really a sandal?  I think not.   I own the Nellie, I own it in red.  It's what I wear in spring and fall when the weather very nice but it's still too early or late to wear sandals.

@chrystaltree

I’m with you; if it has a closed toe, it is not a sandal - no matter what others might call it.

Re: open toe vs closed toe sandals

From the moment it's warm enought to wear sandals I only wear open toe...or supportive flip flops.  My feet feel great and look great too (I get regular pedis) and my toes never bleed.  Never heard of this problem!

Agree with those who feel it's not a sandal if the toes are enclosed.  It's more of an open shoe.

Re: open toe vs closed toe sandals

The last time I had closed toe sandals I was in kindergarten and they were like these only in red.  I hated them and could not wait to get open toes.

My toes have never bled from wearing open toes.
